Wife and I will hopefully be doing winter , prob 2 months , in the algarve if it suits. Is there any members that do winter in the algarve , and perhaps can shed light on its weather vs a typical scots one?
I see 35 day hols advertised really cheap , but to be honest we are thinking of a long term let as opposed to that , a precursor to buying there of course.
Not done long term in the Algarve but was there for a week in December and a week in January. Days are usually nice and sunny. High 50's to mid 60's. 3 days in Janaury we played golf, and every day we wore shorts. One day it reached 70. Nights can be cool though and you sometimes can get a frost. Hope this helps.

It is better than a scots summer
Hi Webhamster This last winter has been the coldest for a long time but they experienced same thing in Spain maybe its the global warming thing changing the weather. Normally the Algarve is quite mild in winter, better than the Uk anyway. December Mid January & February was ok in day but really cold nightime. In February we had some really cold frosts at night. But maybe this winter it will be different . Regards Jayjan
Thanks all for input , the benefit is that both the other half and I can get more walking and therefore weight loss there than here....and secondly it would be cheaper to heat something over there than here.
We always come back having put weight on as the restaurants are so good and very reasonably priced.
yeah but i have to walk to them , prices are great , it isnt much more than buying the stuff in most instances true.
Have just read your message and wondered whether you have decided to go to Algarve later in the year
I go there more in the winter than in the summer
We go to the west coast which has beautiful scenery and lots of lovely walks
yeah going over at the end of this month...oct till end of nov
