Hi
I am thinking of going to bulgaria for the first time next July. Which do you think is the nicest resort? Im not big on nightclubs - prefer a more relaxing holiday, but like a choice of bars and restaurants. Any recommended hotels aswell?
Thanks
Gemma
Hi Gemma we always go to G/S which has a lot of night life and lots of good restaurants but is very hilly,Albena is quiter and is a very nice resort not as big as G/S .Sunny beach is the largest resort and is a lot flater for walking ,but is a very busy resort also.If you want a quiet resort Albena /StKonstantin are smaller and quiter. If you go and look through the hotel reviews you will find there are lots of good hotels .And the reveiws are all from people who have stayed in them.H/T is great for finding out all the information you need .Hope this helps June
Please forgive me for saying, but GS and SB are both resorts that are very similar.
I prefer SB, and GS has a few 18-30 groups.
try nessebeur, near SB but quiet and more replaxing,
hotel bonita in the quieter part of golden sands
but near enough to loads of bars etc
good nights sleep(2004 anyway)
Thank you nice people!
Hotel Ralitsa in Albena - superb
Agree with doonhamer.
True, they're quite similar. Yet, SB is on the southern coast, ie there are more sunny days, and water temperature is always at least 2'C warmer than in GS. Also, SB is larger and - yes - flatter and more convenient for walking, cycling etc. The immediate proximity to Nessebar (one of the two ancient pearls of the black sea, along with Sozopol) is another advantage. Actually, SB & NS are practically merged. There's even a funny little train connecting SB/NS. And dont forget that SB is where the Balkan mountain range meets the Black Sea, so you've got a combination of spectacular mountain scenery and sea views. And finally, SB is at the bottom side of a large bay enclosed by land on three sides, which makes the beach quieter and the water calmer, sometimes there are no waves at all! Hence, the sand is finer and the beach wider and flatter and there's rarely the wind power we usually see in GS.
