We are booked to go to Ibiza (Port Des Torrent) in 3 weeks time.
We booked with Airtours, however, the tickets arrived and we have been booked onto Excel Airways.
I hadn't heard of these before, but after finding some reviews on t'Internet, I'm a tad concerned!
Also, our local paper has an article stating that they have received record compliants in the last few months!

Anyway, has anyone flown with Excel to Ibiza before, and particularly, from Newcastle?
Reason I ask, most of the bad/poor reveiws were from fligths with Excel from Manchester and Gatwick airports.
I wondered if the problems with queues/delays/baggage were regional (staff), rather than a companywide issue?
I wont let it worry me to much, as problems can arrise with most airlines at some point. But I know the wife will be worrying now, and would love to be able to reasure her that everything may not be as bad as she fears!
Cheers
MJ
I have read the reviews and such but i was under the impression most if not all of the problems were due to Excell using short haul aircraft for Long Haul flights to the US and Caribbean. In fact for next Summer Monarch have taken over the Thursday florida flight from NCl.
I have checked the friday Ibiza flight a few times since we booked and it has never been late, so fingers crossed.
Yeah...7th October, Serenis Seaview!!
We are travelling from Newcastle on 25th Sept with Excel to Ibiza and return 3rd October so will let you know what flights were like as soon as we get home
hi, I flew with excel from ibiza to newcastle a couple of weeks ago and did not find any real problems with the flight, service was as expected although cabin was quite small and a bit tatty. They dont have televisions on board so if you want to watch a movie you have to pay to rent a small laptop which has numbers films and music channels at a cost of £5.95 each, payable by credit card!!
Not bothered about a lack of the usual TV/Radio, as we never usually watch them anyway in flight. In our experience on short Haul flights, it isn't usually a film anyway, but a series of TV show repeats!
I'll also have our 23 month old son on my knee keeping me occupied!!!
Though, flying early evening, it'll be near his bedtime, so he'll probably fall asleep. We flew to Ibiza in May, and he slept most of both flights, so was no bother.
I have reassured the wife anyways, that the flight may not be as bad as she fears. Just hope the weather is still ok over there in early October.

your flight times are probably the same as what mine were, 6.15pm flight on a friday but comming back late on friday night at 11.00pm. baggage handling are out of the control of the flight company as there are separate baggage handlers at either end
