Hi Everyone who has concerns re Paradiso rio de oro in Cuba
I have been e mailing the management at the hotel after reading all about construction and getting little response from travel agents.
I'm due to travel oct 7th.
Im assured that the Hotel pool will be open the access road to the beach is closed due to construction but the hotel has a bus to the beach which runs every hr, there is regular entertainment and all restaurants are open,
Well my fears seem to be fully gone after hearing all the wonderfull things about the hotel I can wait to visit.
Happy Holiday

Has anyone heard anymore about the building works?

We go out on Jan 11th and we heard the building works would be complete by then, and then I read the postings above and it seems there is more going on than originally planned.

I have emailed them but had no reply!

hotel will definitely be finished by January

Have you heard much from there?

I have emailed them to ask for a room with wrap around balcony etc etc as discussed in previous posts but had no reply. Do you have another emil address other than what has been previously posted?

The guy that we correspond by email with each week is still "on leave" from the hotel, as there is no work he is going to college in Holguin instead. Will post an update as soon as we hear anything further. Note he is NOT the manager, he just works in the hotel.

I have heard today that our friend is to restart work on Saturday this week, 1st October. Not sure what exactly is completed, will update when we find out more.

Durhamlass,

That would be great if you could ask your friend if the pool/pool bar etc has been finished and has reopens when he returns to work - many thanks.

I am interested in this hotel for next year and am very impressed with the reviews I have read.
There has not been too much mentioned regarding children. Has anyone been with their kids? I see there is no kids club, but that is not a problem as the boys are 9 and a bit too "old" for that now.
Can anyone let me know if they would recommend it for children.
Thanks

there is a "kids club" run by the hotel, although is is fairly low key. We have visited this hotel 4 times and are booked for Christmas and next July. Our daughter is now nearly 16, but we have been going since she was 12 and she loves it. There are more kids there in school holiday times but I would still not describe it as a "family" hotel.

The entertainment staff are really good and there is pool, table tennis, ten pin bowling (outdoors), volleyball and organised daily activities but if your kids like organised kids activities you may be better with the Sol Luna y Mares hotel next door.

The PRDO Is supposed to be one of the best hotels in Cuba though so this may persuade you.

thanks Durhamlass

We have taken the plunge and booked for next July even though the domestic connections are hopeless for us here in Scotland. We thought the extra bit of hassle travelling will be worth it in the end.
There was no other hotel with such good reviews as this one has.
I may be in touch with you nearer the time for guidance to the best restaurants etc as we have a special birthday for one of the party while we are there and would like to make it a special night - cant wait.!! :thanks

Barbaral,

the staff at the PDRO will make sure its a special night. When you check-in to the hotel, they will check your passports for birthdays. You'll have a great time.

Have you seen this thread? I posted lots of pictures of the hotel etc which maybe of interest. Its a fabulous place. I'll looking at the Paradisus Varadero for March based on my stay at the PDRO.
