You will not be disappointed, please feel free to contact me, by the way we are going in July also 13th - 27th is this the same time as you?
For all those travelling soon, I have GOOD NEWS. The works around the pool are completed and everything is back up and running according to our contact.
One week to and counting - I CAN'T Wait. Mummy says it's magical!!!
2 Days for us now !!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't worry too much, we were there in the summer when hurricane Emily passed and we just got a couple of windy days. Holguin is fairly well protected due to the surrounding hills. Have a good time, let us know how you get on.

Thanks Durhamlass
This is my first post on this board
Anyone have up to date information regarding the Paradisus Rio de Oro?
How the Pool refurbishing is?
Whether the Pool Restaurant has its new roof?
Has the Lagoon spilled over the beach into the ocean... near the catamaran hut?
Also, can anyone confirm/deny a rumour heard recently that the Beach Restaurant is closing due to its proximity to the ocean?
We are planning to be there by the end of the month and would love to know the answer to these questions
Thanks..... Gardengal
The work at the pool is complete and open again as is the snackbar (pool restaurant) which I understand from our contact has a new bar.
Don't know anything about the lagoon spilling over, it hadn't in July!
Under cuban law, the beach restaurant must be demolished as it is too close to the ocean, it will be rebuilt but we could not find anyone who actually knew where. We are heading out there on 19th December for xmas & new year, let us know if you find out more.

Shame about the beach restaurant, there was nothing better then a nice lunch overlooking the sea (crashing waves!). I hope they manage to find somewhere along the beach for it, it would be a shame to not have a beach bar / restaurant on such a nice beach.
Thank you for that information
Does your contact know when the beach restaurant will be demolished? Could you find out if it is going to happen soon... or will they set a time in the future for this? Is the beach restaurant still being used at this time?
Sorry for all the questions... the beach restaurant is just one of the most wonderful spots to relax in the shade... with a glass of wine in your hand.... to look out over the most beautiful beach and emerald waters......

Got back from PRDO on Sat morning
The lagoon did indeed overflow it's levy and escape to the ocean after a particulally bad days rain made the sea quite dirty for a while but it has been over a week now and it seems to be correcting itself people were crossing it and swimming in the sea as we were coming home
Probably did the lagoon a world of good it wasn't very plesent around there as the levy that was holding it back had been man made to allow acces to the whole beach
Will post a full report on my stay later in the week
Kitten
Kitten..... good to know the spill over the levy is not as bad as first thought.... can't wait to read your report on your trip.....
This forum is great

I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know how you feel, about being treated so well at this resort.... it is the reason we are going for the 3rd time, in a couple of weeks Can't imagine ever going somewhere else... at this time...
How was the beach? Has the resort begun work on repairing the levy?
Would you know if the Beach Restaurant is still open and functioning... or is it going to be closed until it is demolished?
Thanks for any information you can give, I know how exhausting it can be after a long flight.
Can't wait for your report
I'm under the impression that they can't repair the levy beacuse it's natural and it's just a case of letting nature do the repairs which should take about 30 days. Beach resturant still in operation and serving amazing grilled shrimps!!!
It makes sense to say that they are letting nature do the repairs on the levy.... I guess they would just have to rake the sand out a bit where the water had overflowed, then......
However, I am so glad that the Beach Restaurant is still functioning, and that we will be able to enjoy its gastronomical pleasures
Great review, too, BTW... glad you had such a fabulous time.... not too many know about the 24 hour Room Service being included... we "love" this resort
