Can anyone recommend an apartment in Praia Da Luz or Lagos for October 2006.
Have been looking at the new Estrela da Luz complex in Praia da Luz but there are not many apartments available for rent. It looks a really lovely place with lots of amenities.
We only require 1 bedroom but a second would be a bonus! We like to have a good view as well.
Many thanks,
Pippa
Can't help with Praia de Luz, but we have friends who have stayed at both the Vilabranca Apartments and also at the Marina Club Apartments, both in Lagos. Both, apparently, are excellent apartments but our friends preferred the Marina Club as it's more central being only a 10 minute stroll from the centre of town. The Vilabranca apts, on the other hand are a 20 minute walk into town although there was a courtesy bus available during the day. We've seen both apartments and, personally, we'd prefer the Marina Club if we wanted apartments.
We just stayed right next to the Estrela Apts, and they were nice its an Irish development, just go on the internet and put in Monte Lemos villas and lots come up they are nearly all owned I think. There are loads to let in the Monte Lemos area and all very good.
Please take a look at

Hi Pippa try We were in Praia de Luz , staying at 'the waterside village' a few years back and visited Lagos a number of times. Not sure if you are aware, but Luz is much quieter that Lagos so it depends on what you want from a holiday. We liked Luz and to visit Lagos, but others might prefer it the other way round. Can't remember about Lagos but Praia de Luz (as in the name) had a very nice beach.
There's no shortage of beautiful beaches in Lagos, from small coves to a 5km. stretch of beach ( Meia Praia ) which goes as far as Alvor, the neighbouring resort. There are several great beach bars serving excellent food and the beach is lifeguard patrolled.
Thanks everyone. We are looking for a quiet holiday so Praia da Luz is ideal. Lagos is a very nice place as well.
Enjoy yourselves - I'm sure you will as you will be in a beautiful part of the Algarve.
We have been to the Algarve several times - Carvoeiro being the furthest West we have stayed.
Just waiting for the 'no frills' airlines to release their flights from Stansted.
Pippa
They're a bit slow, aren't they ? Jet2.com have Manchester - Faro flights on sale up to October 2006 !!
Yes, Easyjet do tend to be behind the rest. Air Berlin have released their Summer 2006 flights (we have booked to go to Palma with them in May) but they only fly to Faro on certain days and you have to change planes in Palma. Ryanair haven't released theirs yet either but we do not intend flying with them!!
Jet2 are a great airline, but I wasn't suggesting you travel half the length of the country to use them - I suppose Leeds/Bradford is out of the question as well ?
We have flown from Birmingham once before but Stansted or Gatwick are our preferred airports.
Thanks for all the info.
Pippa
Ah yes! Good old EasyJet! Happy memories of booking flights while stuffing a turkey with one hand and wrapping prezzies with the other. Think I'm right in saying that we "southerners" have to wait a few days more than the rest of the country for them to release their flights - suppose they think we all buy ready rolled bacon and pre-prepared veg from Waitrose!
Hi Sagres I know you fly the welsh flag but how far are you from Manchester? You seem to use Jet2.com from Manchester like we do, excellent airline, but we only live 30 mins from airport at the most, I'm just being inquisitive or maybe nosey. Regards Jayjan
We're about 45 minutes from Manchester airport - dual carriageway and motorway all the way.
