We got back last week and we had a great time(will get round to writing a review).Yes its basic but has everything you need.We were allocated a self catering studio apartment with a pool view(thanks to trevor),which was of a decent size and was very clean(cleaned on a daily basis and fresh towels daily).
Two things i will mention on first impressions is the grey sofas in the reception area, they were very tatty and could do with being replaced and the other is having to pay for tv(not one free channel) which i thought was a bit odd.
All in all we had a fantastic holiday and would definetly go back.
Thanks for your help Trevor
Welcome Jo Jo. Thanks for the suggestion about the TV and we are currently discussing with the cable operator to have a number of free channels included, whilst leaving the premium channels at a charge. Also the sofa's are expected to be replaced towards the begining of next summer
lookout guards stood down, and - mmm a nice hopleaf extra, me thinks
Anytime Mark. And yes I do agree with you that Gozo is a v ery nice island indeed. I had the pleasure this weekend of being there, only difference, where normally I would stay in a hotel this time around I camped out. You may ask why and the reason being quite simple, it was part of my training which I am currently doing for my attempt on Mount Kilimanjaro in December. A whole group of us trekked all the way around the island starting from the Yacht marina in Mgarr and walking along the coast. We made it to ghasri Valley by 6 pm and then on Sunday we trekked from Ghasri valley to Mgarr arriving at 6pm Sunday evening a total of 47 kilometers. I must admit that I was amazed at the scenery that we came across. as one of our group rightly put it TOTALLY AMAZING. So if anybody wants some ideas on how to explore the coastal regions of Gozo on foot you now know who to contact.
2 years ago, myself and a friend walked around Gozo in a day, and it was quite an experience - 6am to 7pm - for anyone who fancies doing it, most of the walk is easy, but the bits around San Blas are a killer ! unlike you, we didn't carry equipment (just chocolate, bananas and water, fortified with lager and pizza at Ramla and an ice-cream at the azure window). We started in Sannat - favourite bit ? probably San Dimitri point (the NW tip of Gozo)
What I wouldn't give for a nice bottle of hopleaf extra not to mention a week in Ghawdex.
Can you deny Mr BugibbaHC that on the morning of the 23 June 2005 the complex staff did not pressure wash the pool patio deck and wash the dirty water and detrius straight into the smaller of the two pools and the childrens pool ?
Can you deny that the carpets in the room I was offered when checking in on the night of 18th June 2005 were not filthy and looked as if they hadn't ever been cleaned - why on earth are there carpets anyway ??
Can you deny that the items pre-ordered (and pre-paid) with you to be in the room on arrival were not provided by the BHC ?
Can you deny that when I went to complain about the room which had furniture that was falling apart, matresses that were ripped and filthy, and quite possibly fleas and several million dust mites (hence my flea bites and allergy being set off leading to me having to sleep all night outside on the balcony) that there were several other people all complaning about the state of their rooms ?
Can you deny that every night I spoke to disgruntled customers of BHC who felt that this was indeed a hotel from hell ?
Can you deny that the lifts during the week of the 18-25 June 2005 were frequently out of order and that the rear lift had a floor that was coming loose ?
Can you deny that during that week the pool water in the small pool was so dirty that you could not see the bottom of the pool ?
Can you deny that the corridoors in the hotel were not full of peeling paintwork ?
Can you deny that the standard of fixtures and fittings in the apartment were not even of a 2 star level ?
I didn't post any of this in the forum as I didn't want to be too over the top but really if there has been a £1m refurbishment programme I wonder if you would be so kind as to send me details of where the money was spent and to send some before and after pictures - perhaps your auditors may be interested to see where the £1m was spent as well - certainly not in the part of the complex where I stayed.
People I spoke to had paid over £350 per week each to stay there andf were quite rightly horrified at the state of the place.
I haven't even bothered to mention the indoor pool, the air conditioning, the bathroom, or the standard and frequency of cleaning, nor have I bothered to mention the death trap of a cot.
I can assure you mr BHC that I await your reply with interest.
Mr Valleyman, I will be only too pleased to fully investagate and look into the matter, but without knowing your identity I am afaraid I cannot do this. Feel free to send me your idently through a private message or to my direct e-mail and I assure you will be able to reply to all your statements
I will do so.
Many thanks
