hello cathy i think nov 5th is the only day that there is no fireworks if you want to see the fireworks go in the summer for the festas or in april for the firework festival also new years eve is very good. i take it you like fireworks as i do just love them
Thank you very much Alan for your information. I guess I'll just have to settle for a cocktail with mini sparklers instead - so that should do the trick for the pretty pretty fireworks, and for the bang - I'll just have to make sure I drink enough to fall off my stool!
that sounds like a great idea cathy wish i was there too i won 't be there till christmas and new year should be lots of fireworks then
Cathy, you don't mean for Guy Fawkes do you ???? I'm glad you asked this question here, and not in Malta ! atleast you had a
Hi all, one thing I remember about Malta and fireworks is that they don't have them on newyears eve, the one night I thought that they would do as they seem to love them most other times.
I don't remember there being any fireworks at Christmas and the only ones that I saw on New Years Eve came from the Buggiba area!
When I was in Bugibba in August, I watched a lovely fireworks display from my balcony at about 6pm. I had never seen fireworks in the daylight before, it consisted of a puff of smoke and a loud bang. Most entertaining.
that sounds like petards - they are let off during the day, to let everyone know where the festa is - sometimes it sounds like a war zone !
Ahhh - I did wonder....
Petards eh! that is the reason I now avoid going to Mellieha between 3rd-7th September. Nothing but a nuisance. They let them off three or four times a day between 7.am and 7p.m. Not nice to be woken up by them at all.
I agree Petards should be banned whilst Fireworks are lovely
i love the petards i used to go to the field in qormi where they let them off the ground used too shake and i was almost deafened by the explosionsguess i must be a masochist
They let them off in Sliema aswell just as I am trying to have a lie in.
I don't know what petards is as I am not a Malta lover but if it's something they celebrate in their Country why should they ban it for tourist it maybe part of their culture and remember your the visitor
pojj you don't need to be a Malta lover to know what a petard is as it's not a Maltese word or even of Maltese origin here is the Oxford English Dictionary deffinition of the word "Petard" this should give you an idea about what one is
