It looks OK, We wanted something 'away from the madding crowd' and it looks like it may fit the bill. :D

The Canfali is on the headland in the Old Town, close to the Church. There are steps down to the Levante Beach and steps the other side of the Church down to the Poniente. It might not be a good choice for anyone with walking difficulties.

Hi Spottycat ... the Hotel Canfali is not often mentioned in the forums, and this is probably because of its size and location. Whilst most Brits tend to head for the large complexes on the Levante side of town, the Canfali is a small 38 bedroom hotel on the headland in the Old Town, as mentioned by Wynn.

Most photographs tend to show the fantastic views from the Canfali terrace, looking down on the Levante Beach, or the equally impressive views from the beach looking towards the hotel and its lovely balconies.

However, it is worth bearing in mind that not all rooms are on that side of the building, and as far as I can recall, not all of them have balconies either. If I was staying at the Canfali, I would want to make sure that I had a balcony and sea view.

Some rooms may look directly on to neighbouring residential apartments, separated only by a narrow lane which is roughly the width of an average car and is fairly noisy with mopeds, etc. It's nice to be wakened by the neighbouring church bells in the morning, but not to be kept awake by your neighbour's telly through the night !

If you haven't seen it, you can access the hotel group's website HERE.

So it's important we cross someones palm with silver and get a sea view then.

many thanks for the info, I will post a review next year after we return, in case anyone else is interested

Hi Spottycat ... looking at THIS photo, there could actually be as few as 10 of the 38 bedrooms which have both balcony and sea view. I would imagine that demand for those rooms would be high, so if crossing any palms with silver (or upgrading   ) I would do so as soon as possible.

David is right spottycat, there are only about 10 rooms with balconies facing the sea. The majority of the rooms are on the back of the hotel, and apart from the noise I would think they must be quite dark and wont get any sun. There are some rooms on the side with a sea view but no balcony. I would pay a supplement and bag one of those front sea view, balcony rooms.

I've been trying in vain to contact the hotel, :bhead but evidently it is closed until May 2006.
Suggestions anyone :shrug

Have a look at spotlight benidorm site , there is a virtual tour of the hotel, its http://www.benidorm-spotlight.com. click on the hotels, and then on the map at the bit that says centre, and then you will find the hotel, click on this . Hope this gives you some idea of what the hotel is like . There is also a couple of reviews too.

Hi Spottycat ... now that you are back home, how did you get on at the Canfali ? Did you get your seaview room with balcony ? Did you enjoy the early morning alarm call from the chapel bells ?

Perhaps you would like to be the first to review this hotel for us - please click here.

We found it an excellent base for what we wanted out of Beni. It is centrally positioned, and with brilliant views over the town and beach. The food is OK, helps to speak some Spanish, especially this time of year when it's mostly locals that stay there.

Can be noisy on a Friday and Saturday evening, as the square is the meeting place for Benidorm Yoof. No hoodies in site, pleasent mixture of young people, but hell of a racket until about 12 midnight.

Would go back to the hotel next time we are in Beni and would recommend it heartily. You must try and get a bolcony room at the front though.

Enjoy.
P.S. visit the Queens Hotel as well and go onto the roof terrace and bar. Brilliant views.
