We go every year to the Algarve i am sure you will enjoy it.
Deb as mandii says you have made the right decision vila petra is a lovely first class place, enjoy your holidays. Regards Jayjan
Thanks for your kind words about the holiday I have booked, the only thing left to do now is get from airport to hotel, we usually get a taxi outside airport in palma, I'm hoping it will be just as easy at Faro! Looking forward to it already even though we have 5 months to go, have read all good reports about the vila petra, just hoping the studio I have booked is as nice as the 1 bedroomed apartments. Thanks again.x
Taxis are usually plentiful at Faro, but check out the "Airport transfers" thread where you'll find recommendations for tried and trusted transfers at pre-agreed prices. We paid 25 euros Albufeira to Faro at Christmas.
Thanks sagres, I will have a look.
If you e mail the hotel they will arrange a driver to pick you up
they send you a voucher in e mail
think the cost is 35 euros but not sure if that is return or not !!!
Hi, didn't realise you could do that, we have now booked with Alan Sutton who was recommended on this site. Will know for next time though. Thanks for the info.
We stayed in a studio with a balcony looking out over the pool and the lovely gardens. The studio was really big for the two of us so I expect the apartments are huge. It was incredibly well equipped - microwave, full oven, dishwasher, iron & board, coffee maker, kettle, hairdryer, tv with uk channels. We had a brilliant time there - the staff are really friendly and the whole place is sparklingly clean. There's a gym, tennis courts, squash court, hairdressers and beautician, supermarket there too.
The location is ideal too just far enough from the strip and there's some great bars and restaurants nearby. I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time there.
Barnaby you have made my day - I was a bit concerned about the size of the studio's as that is what we've booked. But you say it's big enough, well, thats good enough for me. My case is going to be a lot lighter now I don't have to take iron or hairdryer too...! Just a quick question if you don't mind, was there much entertainment in the hotel itself? Thanks very much for all the info, I am really looking forward to it even more now. Cheers x
I book with Winter Sunshine Holidays all the time, in lots of different resorts. I cannot fault them

Hi, thank you for that. Just got back today from a very short break in majorca for hubby's 50th - only had 1 & a half days of sunshine out of 4 days, hence looking forward to algarve more now.
There wasn't much entertainment at the Vila Petra but that's probably because it was March and they weren't too busy. It's probably different during the summer when the complex is full. There's so much going on nearby though I'm sure you won't have to look far to be entertained!!
Thank you for the info barnaby.

Looking to go to Algarve in June and looking at the reviews this looks like a good place to stay, 2 adults and 12 yo girl.
Hi again, I have emailed the hotel to ask for a pool view room, but forgot to ask if they have a pool/beach towel hire facility. Just thought it would be so nice not to have to take bulky towels with us. Anyone got any idea's - please!! Thanks all.
