We always get e-tickets. All you need to do is just take your confirmation email and passports to check in, where they look up your name and check you in.

Yes, I've used BA E-tickets.

There are no problems at all, at either end.

If you are flying on BA, you can also check in online, find out (or even select) which your seat is and print out a coded boarding pass, in which case you just take your bags to a fast bag drop desk.

... and having done all that, if you then decide you don't want that seat anymore and want an aisle seat... like a certain someone you can still go to the normal check in desks and check in there.
