Good Afternoon Peter, to follow on your guidelines, there are two small shops in Albena and a Bulgarian "Lidl" at the Bus station. The nearest you will come to meat will be prepacked salami and frankfurters and as a guess nearest places for fresh veg will be either Varna or Dobrich Markets. Although did see a couple of stores in the bottom of Kranevo selling veg last year. but cannot guarantee anything this year. Cheers Tonyt

We are going to Golden Yavor Apartments which I believe are located quite centrally in Golden Sands.

Can anyone recommend good eating places with an idea of prices.

Thanks

Hi Donna

Do you mean the Yavor apartments?
I do not know of any called Golden if so yes they are situated quite central in the resort. There are so many bars and restaurants to choose from to cater for everyones taste and budget within a very short walk of the apartments.
The problem with recommending anywhere is that managment and staff change, one that was good last year may not be this. We went to the Amphora in 2004 and it was superb,we went in 2005 and walked out service was terrible. The Gibraltar near the Admiral was good last year but.......who knows this year.

Hi Donna,

I'm hoping you can solve a little mystery. I just don't know where the name Golden came from. I know we have it on the Hotel Reviews, but it is a mistake.

Please advise where you have got the name from, was it perhaps on the travel company invoice, please?

By the way, the Yavor looked good to us last September, and it's in a great position in the resort.

I have been trying to get reviews on the Yavor Apartments as booked to go there soon. On one of the holiday truth sections it said "also known as Golden Yavor" and I have looked at reviews on it which are all quite positive and does appear to be the same apartments.

The Yavor hotel and the Golden Yavor apartments are seperate buildings with seperate facilities. the golden Yavor self catering apartments are much newer than the Yavor hotel complex and they have a much better pool area. The Golden Yavor apartments are situated out the back of the hotel. If you leave the hotel via the back entrance (the hotel is huge and has in it three different sections, called yavor 1, 2, 3, although they are all in the same building and use the same resteraunt etc )

We stayed in the Yavor hotel last summer and although we were pleased with the level of service etc we were dissapointed with the pool area as it is very shaded and it has limited amount of sunbeds. However reception told us that as the new apartments are owned by the management at the hotel we could use their pool and facilities.

The Golden Yavor has excellent facilites, a fab pool area with an outdoor bar area and offers really good snacks and a full menu throughout the day.

This is the road leading into the Golden Yavor apartments, behind that tree is the back of the Yavor hotel. You can see the edge of the pool area in that photo (the umbreallas next to the railings.)

This is the road/lane that seperates the hotel and the apartments, the hotel exit (one of them!) is at the top of the lane (another at the bottom) and you can just see the golden yavor building at the top.

The entrance to the Golden Yavor.

i can assure you that you have nothing to worry about having booked this accomodation, we never heard any complaints about it and we certainly enjoyed using their facilities for 2 weeks !

Hi Karen,

Thanks very much, you have solved the problem of the 'Golden Yavor', didn't spot the sign. It shows the chaos we have in relation to the naming of resort hotels and associated appartments.

The Golden Yavor is partly hidden from view as it is in a secluded area behind the Yavor at the top of a lane which doesnt really lead anywhere.

Peter, when we met in the reception of the Yavor hotel we were sat next to an entrance which is in that lane in the pictures.

Golden Yavor has its own website with a link to the sister hotel, Hotel Yavor:

http://www.hotelgoldenyavor.com/?go=gallery

I'm trying to book direct with them and I'll let you know if that works out cheaper than booking through an agent/package deal

Are you staying in the apartments? They were new last year and I've heard they are very nice. The Yavor hotel however seemed to be rather tired looking last September.
