I hope this hasn't been discussed before. I did try a search but to be honest got very bogged down. I apologise if it was perviosly discussed.
We will be in Goa end of next week. Would anyone know what fruit is in season. I am particularly interested in Mangoes.
Cheers.
Mangoes are JUST coming in season, they will be quite pricey at the moment, we have a HUGE mango tree in the garen and it starts to fruit properly in MAY (after all the tourists have gone!!! ) - We were getting LOTS of them and giving them out at the slums last year, prices go down to as little as 1rs a mango I think, or at most 1.5rs a mango during season time :o) I presume the mangoes currently in the market are from other states, hense the higher prices...
I've also bought some lovely strawberries off the market!
I like to go to candolim market most days, I buy strawberries, pineapple, grapes, cantelope melon, oranges, apples tomatoes, all for less than £2.00, as this is overly healthy I generally get some Icecream to make sure the meal is balanced [not with the tomatoes]
Excellent. but any idea what is in season now please.
I think Rob has already answered that, you can get virtually any fruit, especially tropical fruit throughout the holiday season, was there anything specific you wanted.
Watermelon, Pineapple, Chicko, Lime, Orange, Apple, Grapes, Gala Melons, Bananas, pommegranit etc
and strawberries ......
Aren't strawberries dangerous because of colera??? They do grow in the ground
Carrotts and spuds are underground - not strawberries, they are on a plant above the ground.
The thing is, for example, pregnant women are told not to eat strawberries because they grow on the ground (ok the plant is above the ground, it's not a root, but you peel roots before you eat and you won't peel strawberries) and also plants that grow in the water (like watercress) because they're most likely to be contaminated... and this was my thought about cholera and strawberries
When I said 'in season' I hope I didn't confuse as with dogs etc being 'in season' hence the reference to pregnancy. lol
if you are worried about cholara, get vaxed, last 6 months shouldn't cost much.
I was just curious if that wasn't an issue about strawberries
You needn't be pregnant to get cholera if my theory was right
Anyway, I won't eat strawberries and I can't get a shot for cholera since I'm planning to get pregnant next month (I'm in season lol) and can't have any vac. 3 months before doing that
(12 days to go)
Didn't want to make anyone worry, sorry for thinking too much
