Finally decided to go to Malta around 20th march on hols. Now its just the detail of organising the hotel etc... OH has found a holiday with either the Bugibba holiday complex, Topaz or Plaza Regency. But I've found some conflicting reviews on these hotels.
Looking to spend around £500 HB. Anything better you guys could recommend?
How are the buses around Malta? Do they run throughout the day from the above hotels?
The busses run all year round but not from the hotels! They run on a winter timetable.
Its for both of us. We could go above this....but it very much depends
I have sent a private message re doing it yourself. it should work out much cheaper than £250 each for March. Also Chevron have pretty good deals on in March
My Mum likes the Santana Hotel in Bugibba - it seems to be well located for buses etc. It is available either on Mercury Direct or Chevron or if you do a DIY - try Medhotels, Holiday Hotels or the hotel direct.
We personally like the Coastline hotel in Salina Bay on the outskirts of Qawra. It is a little isolated but buses run past the door and they operate a courtesy bus into Bugibba. This hotel is available through Portland Holidays, Thomson, Mercury, Chevron or hotel only through Medhotels etc.
I looked at Portland and a week for 2 on half board is approx. £550. This is very good value as it is a 4* hotel and very good quality.
I checked out BA flights (not sure where you want to fly from) from Gatwick and they come out at around £275 for 2 passengers. Air Malta have quite a wide range of airports but I can't get onto their site at the moment.
It is also worth looking at Expedia as you can either book a flight only or combine it with a hotel.
My Mum goes out in the Winter months as well as Summer and has no problems getting anywhere she wants on the buses.
If you want anymore info please just get in touch,

You can either just book flights or flights and hotel package.
I checked out a flight and the coastline hotel and it came up at £455 - 2 people - half board. Superb value. Flights are with First Choice and from Gatwick.

Worth while looking but it is a little early for you!

According to them it has been sunny and generally mild all week though there was a chilly breeze on occasions. They both have a bit of a tan and since they never purposely sunbathe I reckon the weather must have been quite good!
