Hi Ady,

I stayed at the Dionysis studios about 6 years ago so some of this info might be out of date.

I found the place to be extremely clean and spacious. The apartments are quite basic but have everything you need and they stay nice and cool throughout the day. The staff there were very friendly and helpful and the service they provided was great. My room was cleaned on a daily basis, and clean towels were provided every few days. The pool bar is indoors but i found this to be ideal as, again, it stayed nice and cool throughout the day...... they also stocked every drink you could imagine and did a fantastic white cheese and tomatoe toastie! The pool is a reasonable size and there was always plenty of space around the pool. There are also hotel rooms in the Dionysis and the reception offers all the usual services you would expect in a hotel. When i was there they even offered an exchange service where you could cash in any travellers cheques. The reception area is large and had a settee area with a large T.V. (which seemed to be stuck on the sports chanel!). I like to escape from things like T.V.s and phones on holiday but it was nice to be able to sit in comfortable surroundings with something to watch on the last night when waiting for the transfer coach.

There is a supermarket within 2 mins walk from the Dionysis. it's not too big but stocks everything you might want, including phone cards for the phone it has right outside. There are a couple of tavernas within 2-3 mins walk too and the food there is nice but not the best in Hnaioti. One taverna was recommended to me by the staff at the Dionysis, and when i visited i noticed the staff from other tavernas were eating there too!. I cant remember the name of the taverna but as you come out of Dionysis studios onto the road, turn right, pass several tavernas and a music bar and it's the last place on the left side of the road. This end of Hanioti is really quiet and relaxed at night. The music bar at this end of the road is the only bar but it is a really friendly place and they'll stay open as long as there's someone drinking basically, they also do great cocktails at even better prices. I had one very blurred night at the music bar and the post mortem the next day reavealed that id only spent about a tenner!

If you turn left out of Dionysis studios you'll pass more tavernas, mostly quite quiet places, and the road leads to the town square (only about 10 mins stroll). the square is a bit livlier and there are a few shops around the outside of the square. there are a good selection of bars in the square and it's much livlier than the other end of town. There's also a night club if you want it, where you tend to find a few more locals than tourists but does have a mix of european and pop music.

The beach in Hanioti is immaculate. Like the tavernas and bars, the busier end is at the town square end and the other side is much quieter. There are water sports offered at the busy end of the beach if you want them. If you want the beach to yourself then head towards the music bar and turn left just after onto the little track that leads down to the beach. This is only 5 mins walk from Dionysis and i often found that i was the only one on the beach in this area. The sand is soft and almost white and the beach here is fantastic.

As i said, it's a fair few years since i visitied and i do know that there's at least one more hotel/apartments been built very close to the Dionysis. Some of the reviews ive read about hanioti give the impression that it might be a bit busier these days but i cant imagine that the beach or the relaxing atmosphere of the quiet side of town could have been spoiled.

have fun on your holiday, wherever you decide to go.
