many thanks for all your replies.
will take packet soups and we were going to take some bacon anyway (for a good old bacon buttie).
my aunt eats very little at home and she has always been a "fussy" eater,
I think that she may well be living off soup and omellettes for the week!
The bread is georgeous, I could quite easily eat a whole loaf all to myself in one sitting!

if ya aunt is fussy maybe she can have things like potatoes and soup

we get fed up eating out on holiday as i only tend to do the brekkie in the appt

its always a dilemma with small children aswell i find, last year my toddler was two and half she never sat still at the dinner table and never finished a meal thtsthe only thing i dread about holidays

Hi All

It's our first visit to Turkey in June, going to Ovacik in a villa.
I don't want to take too much food with me, as part of my holiday is eating out but like to take some just for when we get there and to have some basics in. So, what can I take? Am I restricted regarding certain food items? And if there's already a thread re this, apologies, but I have looked.

Thanks everyone

Take what you want as long as it is already dead

There are certain things that in the rule book they say you can't bring as other countries do but no one will say anything to you.

on a slightly different but still food-related note (I'm getting hungry!) can you get fry-up breakfasts with black pudding? I'm off to Marmaris soon...

ps. I'm not even 100 %sure what black pudding is, but it tastes so good!

i'll take that as a no then

No, you won't find black pudding on the menu for breakfast in Turkey - but you will find sausage and bacon, beans, fried bread, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs etc.

Elaine,

I thought you coudn't get bacon in Turkey? :?

the breakfast sounds great though, I rarely get the time to eat one at home, so I'm going to make up for lost time (and lard)

All resorts where British tourists go have bars or restaurants which sell full English breakfast, including proper sausage and bacon, which they import (either by popping over to Greece, or by getting it brought over with friends and relatives in the UK).

Same with Sunday lunch, with gravy and mint sauce brought over from the UK.

When I was in Icmeler last year I was told, the first pig farm in Turkey had been given their licence to produce meat because of demands from Tourists.

Hi

Two years ago in Icmeler we went for a breakfast in a bar called the Kacktus and believe it or not we got black and white pudding. The owner had a Scottish wife and when she went home she brought loads back. Unfortunately it has different owners now, so no black pudding

Gravy granules/Packet or bottle sauces are ok - But bacon & sausages are a 'no no' - But what customs dont know about dont hurt,... right  Any meat/dairy produce is not allowed

There is a big long post about this subject already somewhere

Cheers
