Hello All. I am Steve age 56 married to Chris for 33 yrs, we have 1 daughter. I was born in Cornwall, Chris in Portsmouth met whilst in the services now live in the East Midlands. I spent 25 yrs in the military and am now employed as a depot manager for a large distribution company. Chris for the past 18 yrs has worked with special needs children.
First trip to Goa October 2005 returning on the 8th April for another 2 weeks. Really enjoy the laid back attitude, the beaches (esp agonda), the food (fish in particular) and the friendly locals/travellers and others who simply strike up a conversation with you, no other holiday destination have we experienced this.
I visit this site at least twice a day and am now using it for research for other destinations we both want to visit, Kerala, Nepal and Thailand.
Thanks for a great forum.

Hi, I am Sarah and I am 24 and live in Hertfordshire with my Fiance Alex (28 ), I also work in Hertfordshire for a big retailer as an Events Manager.

I discovered this forum about 2 months ago when we were first looking at booking a holiday to Goa, we have now booked and are going in just under three weeks time on the 13th April and will be staying at the Marinda Dourada. I have found this forum VERY helpful with looking at for booking and since we have booked for many ideas, I must check it at least 5 times a day!!

My finace and I both love travelling and have been to many places such as Cuba and Dominican Republic

I work as an administrator and will soon be helping John with his new business when he starts after our hols in April - we go on the 14th, staying in Candolim for the 6th time and really can't wait for some sunshine!

This website is a real timewaster - but I love it!
I love travelling and have still got many places on my list including the far East that I'd love to visit but Goa seems to have a strong hold on both of us!

Hello my name is Rob, I've been a HT addict for 1 and a half years. I used to have friends but now I just know HT User names.... I am not too religious but pray to the lord 'Fiona HT Mod' before and after posting and before going to bed. Fiona the almighty is a kind and giving God unless you riase YOUR VOICE, Say bad words S**** or misbehave on the HT world.

I actually live in Goa, although I am let home (Home being Nottinghamshire (NOT NOTTINGHAM!) in the UK) once a year for a month. I stay in Goa as myself and a friend started a charity called 'Children Walking Tall' (see the link below if you want to know more). I had never run my own business before, let alone a charity so it was a steep learning curve for me, especially as I have to do the whole process in two countries, England (as we're a registered British charity) and also in Goa, India (Which is way more difficult). The charity itself is only a year and a half old but we have done a huge amount in this time, we started with two schools just in the slums and currently run the same two schools although one has been moved (this week) to 'The Mango House'. The Mango House has been our latest project, it is an old Portuguses house that hadn't been lived in for 20 years so was in a sad state of affairs, from the end of May 2005 until a few months ago we converted it into a bright vibrant house aimed to encourage learning and play for the street and slum children we help.

All day every day is taken up helping the charity, which can be a bit much at times, but the children make up for it as they are so happy and greatful for what we do. I never thought I would be doing this, but am grateful I get chance to meet the children, the volunteers and all the generous people who go out of their way to help. It means so much to myself and Shermina. I say it alot, but none of this would have been possible without the kindness of our supporters many of which have found out about uor work on the 'HT World'.. So thank you for helping me do such a rewarding job!

It's a bit strange that this is actually a thread about us (eg me in this case) and all I can say about me is not physically me... It's Chilen Walking Tall... But I guess I Like being Children Walking Tall as the last few days as the children (at present aroud 50 of them) walk home with our volunteers/staff, they have burst in to spontaneous soung singing 'Children Walking Tall', 'Children Walking Tall' as loud as they can....

Hello, my name is Lenny, I'm 55yrs old and retired from Greater Manchester Police last year, l live in Manchester and am a season ticket holder at Old Traford having supported United since 1963. I have travelled extensively due to serving in The Royal Navy visiting North & South America, all the Scandinavian countries, most countries throughout the med. the Far East inc. Australia & Japan, not to mention ten months in the West Indies and last but not least the Arctic Circle. My first visit to Goa was in December last year following my retirement and l stayed in Calangute and loved every minute, I have just booked again for March next year and will be staying in Candolim, Goa was recommended to me by a number of people l worked with and everything they said about the place was true in fact it easily exceeded all my expectations, l would have loved to have gone back before next year but had already booked for a trip to Turkey in June so l couldn't really be too greedy, still next March will soon come around. Before going l would like to say that l think this forum is brilliant and all the advice l had before my visit was extremely useful :P :P :P

Hi, I'm Shermina and I'm the mad one that started up Children Walking Tall with Rob. I'm 27 years old and before coming out to start the charity I was a secondary school maths teacher (mad I know).

The reason I decided to start the charity is because I love spending time with children. The children are so different in Goa compared to England , they might have nothing, but to them they have the whole world at their feet. They don't need expensive toys and clothes, as long as someone cares about them, that's all they want. Everybody can use some of their knowledge to help make a difference in children's lives.

I can't ever see myslef with a different job or returning to the UK for good..... this is my life now.

Hi my name is Ann and I was 49 years young yesterday and just getting used to it!

I have been a member of HT for around 4 years..and have been travelling to Goa for 5 of them. Discovered this site after our 1st trip which was really helpful for our 2nd one.

I live in Manchester with my hubby Harry..(who incidentally is another Man U season ticket holder) :D

I have 2 chidren Laura aged 22 and Steven aged 20 who won't leave home :shrug

I work as a director for Manchester's Enterprise Agency which helps people set up in business, I have done the same job for the last 18 years...It is very rewarding as we help a lot of young and also underprivileged people who we can help obtain funding for and also give them free help and advice.

We travel to Goa every Feb and have met some great friends some of whom are HT'ers. We also travel a lot to Tenerife and the Costa del Sol as we have family who live in both places.
We also used to love Orlando and Disney but the fun has gone out of it as the kids have got older...so guess we will have to wait for grandchildren to come along...(preferably after the kids have left home) :D ?

HT is one of my favourite sites which I pop in to everyday...lots of nice people with sound advice....and not forgetting a lovely Mod too :kiss

Ann

Thanks Ann- appreciated!
