It may be the Brewers Droop you are thinking of as it was closed down for allegedly playing bingo illegally.

Apparently Bingo is classed as gambling in Tenerife so you need a very expensive license to run games. The authorities have been cracking down on those bars running Bingo without the necessary papers.

The bingo they used to play in the Starbar was just one game per night, & the money used to rollover, a lot of bars do 1 game a night but I assume you are looking for a proper bingo hall?
If you walk down the hill from the Starbar, passed the Bouvanville Hotel towards Veronicas, there is a huge Bingo sign on the side of the road. Nevere been there myself, but worth checking out.
I think there is also a bingo hall in Fanabe, up past the Famabe Costa Sur Hotel towards the motorway. Again not to far from the Starbar, will probably only be around €4 in a taxi.

Yip its a case of "Eyes down for your first slap" as far as the police are concerned at the moment!

PS. Unlike softy UK police rules, our coppers are allowed to give you a good hard slap here if they feel you deserve it!

We went to the Star Bar when we were on holiday over Christmas and won a few times at Bingo - the money is pretty reasonable. They never advertise it though, and we got chatting to one of the waitresses one night and she told us that playing bingo in bars is illegal in Tenerife, and if the bar owner gets caught it is a heavy fine and the bar could be shut down. Apparently they have "look outs" outside for the police whilst the bingo's on. Apparently the police were working their way up from PDLA centre as the weeks went on trying to catch bars out.

:D Hi, thanks for all the replies, can explain to mum when she rings. She's actually staying at the bouganville, and the star bar is where she won the 80E monday night. As she has not rung since monday, I don't know if she's managed to play again.

When she went to bouganville last year, after the fortnight, she had won 500E (Not sure if this was in star bar - but think it was), I remember her telling me with these winnings she had, had a cheap holiday! Thanks again for alll your replies. Have a nice weekend. Regards, BBB.

Can anyone tell me which bars are currently playing Bingo and whats the prize money like.

We used to play at the george and dragon and the soul suite, the prize money on offer a couple of years ago was excellent.

Thought i read somwhere that shannigans played Bingo, looking for bars around the los cristianos area and parque de la paz/ patch.

Many thanks

P,S. I dont play its the wife and the daughter.

Did notice a bingo hall in Las Chafiras about 10km from LC not sure of prices but it looked similar on the outside to the ones in the UK hope this helps :)

There is a bingo hall in Los Cristianos, around by the bus terminus.
You will have to brush up on your Spanish though, or limit the quantity of your tickets

Dont want Bingo hall, just bars in los cristianos etc

Not sure if they still play Bingo in bars? One got shutdown last year for not having a bingo licence. Apparently the authorities do not like bingo being played in the bars.

As a bingo lover i regret to tell you that i have not found any bars playing it anymore. The bars have got scared as it is illegal and if they are foung to be playing they face massive fines. Blooming killjoys!!

There are proper bingo halls you can go to although they play in spanish.

The alternative is that some bars are playing sticky fingers, a card game with cash pizes.

If i do find anywhere i will let you know, as a resident in tenerife it is a pastime that i am sorely missing!!

clarets4ever,

went to a hotel for a night and they were playing bingo as part of their evening entertainment. Most hotels will let you in the bars even if you aren't staying there so if may be worth looking around.

Last july, there was very little bingo being played in the south of the island in the bar's. Has this changed by any chance and if so which bars are still playing it. George & Dragon and Soul Suite were particulary popular on the Parque de laz paz strip.

I think that the star bar still plays it, opp boungivilla hotel, and they pay out what they take in.

None of that pay 50 euros for the girls tickets to be told full house was 25 euros
