mick d we havent even recieved letter from fc to tell us it had been downgraded my daughter is a travel agent and has been trying to get info for us, but has been told the same as everyone else. She works for thompsons tho and if im honest i have had no problems with them in the past, but am doubting fc. will get hold of new brochure and have a look at pics but still excited eventhough went to portugal 9yrs ago and were still building the place, had a pool with no water in it, my hubby kicked off big style and we were moved the next day, fingers x
no pics in the new brochure still artists impressions im sure it will be all ok when we get there well it better be or there will be hell to pay
We go on the 24th May too, have a daughter of 11. Really looking forward to it now and hopefully will have a hotel to stay in.
Hi all, nice to see some positive comments , I am sure we will all have a great time anyway looking forward to meeting some of you we fly 28th june about 11 weeks for us to wait, can't wait we are on countdown now.
As of today, April 17th, there is still a lot of work to be done. Doors have not been installed. The landscape is still bare. There is an army of workers so we have to wait and see whether or not it can be completed for May 24th.
Many in this forum have expressed a fondness for Tigaki. The Hotel technically is located in the municipality of Kos, and is not considered part of Tigaki. Tigaki is a short distance away, but a mode of transportation is required. Walking is a good hour and fifteen minutes away. Bicycles are o.k. during the day time, but bad street lighting make it dangerous during the night. Scooters are a good way of getting around, so do not forget your driver's licence. As of last year there was no bus service, but it MAY be extended this year (maybe not).
The beach in front of the hotel has no sand just stones. There is a good beach within a five minute walk, but as of last year had no ammenities (sunbeds, restaurants etc.)
On the positive side, this does seem like a good hotel, great for the kids. The view is absolutely spectacular. Clouds during late spring and summer are a rarity.
Hope everyone has a great time in Kos.
just found this movie of tingaki beach on this website looks nice
http://www.travel-to-kos.com/360.php?viewid=53 sorry its this one
I am not worried about the building work as there is an army of workers, i am worried about the sand situ though as sand is another one of the main reasons I booked the hotel, I have pm'ed sp so will ask a few more questions like are the pools ready? any waterpark yet?? and loads more I havent thought of yet.
I am trying to stay positive but have just trawled through first choice's website looking at alternative hols.Fingers crossed for me.
Sam xx
Samantha J, id imagine if there is an "army of workers" then the place must be swarmed with construction guys and there is still a month left before opening, they are probably working flat out 7 days a week at the mo to get it ready, the beach in front of the hotel is a bit worrying though as I was hoping for it to be like mick d's video clip.
As for KABC we do realise that is located in the municipality of Kos, which is a lot busier, lots of shopping, resturants, bars and the harbour front is great to sit and people watch over a nice cool drink. Thank you for your feedback it is I am sure much appreciated as you are so close to the kabc There are some very nice beaches but as you say with no ammenities, we found a nice one up near the salt lakes, you might know it but again no ammenities. Tigaki beach is lovely, with a visit from the dohnut man and the fruit truck I can't wait to get back. So everbody keep thinking positive and Samanthaj I will keep fingers crossed
The other point that I was trying to make as to its location, is that people who like to experience the night life of either Kos or Tingaki will be disappointed, as you will need a form of transportation to get around or a taxi. This is a hotel vacation location, ie. it is for those people who do not like to move around. The last bus stop from Kos town to Tigaki is about 2 km away but they may extend it to the hotel. Those that want to experince the beach in Tingaki can do so with a bycicle.
This is my first post on this site although I have been reading this topic for months now.
I am going to Kos ABC on 14TH June with my husband and our two boys aged 1 and 4.
We are so excited as this is an extra special holiday for us as my husband will also be 40 when we are there so we hope to celebrate in style.
We have been on holiday to a few new builds before and have always been lucky with standards and finish etc, you always expect a few teething problems though.
We are definitley going to hire a car to get out and about from the complex and to see a few things around the island etc.
If anyone is coming the same time maybe see you there,
Take care
we are also going on 14th June, there will be 8 of us 4 adults, 14 yr old, 10 yr old and two toddlers of 16 & 19 months. Ive just made my final payment today im getting into holiday mood now, where abouts are you flying from? we are Gatwick at 7.10am flight, there are quite a few of us going same time, if you look back on i think its page 25 there is a list of who goes when (although may be alittle out of date now) speak soon Michelle x
Our flight is from Manchester around the same in the morning i think.
We paid ours all off last week so all i need to do now is get a few clothes and bits before we go.
