msc1977 - it will all depend on whether you have a walkway from aircraft directly into terminal or whether you have to bus it into terminal.
If you get a walkway you'll have to walk to baggage reclaim and collect puschair there - depending on your gate this can be a hellish long walk!
We always pray for a bus to meet us at aircraft steps so you can ask for pushchair before boarding bus which takes you straight into terminal, short walk thru' immigration and into baggage reclaim altho' I have to say the last couple of years we've not used the pushchairs in the terminal as it always seems more of a faff.
Hope that helps.
I am flying Stanstead to Palma airport with Airberlin. Does any one know how far away there gate is at Palma, as my parents are not too good on their feet and I know there can be quite a walk to some of the gates.
We are flying with them again to Palma on Wednesday - not sure when you go but if we get back before you go then I will tell you what happens this time.
Pippa
Thanks for that Pippa. We don't go until August. Never flown with Airberlin before are they ok.
They are a really good airline with excellant service. You get an allocated seat and a free snack and drink. Beats Easyjet hands down. There is quite an extensive post on this site on Air Berlin - might be worth you reading it. We have booked for October and next Feb as well so they must be ok!!
For the Air Berlin thread mentioned by Pippa ....
It's easy to request a buggy and or a lift off the aircraft at Palma , you dont need to be in a wheelchair but it helps if you have a blue badge number to quote to the airline. Everywhere is a long way at Palma if you are unsteady on your feet.
Just back - we had a lengthy walk both on arrival and departure. I would suggest that you ask for assistance.
We had a forty five minute delay both going out and coming back due to late arrival of inbound aircraft - seems to be the norm for both Air Berlin and Easyjet. Time was made up in flight though so only about 30 minutes delay in the end.
Pippa
Thanks Pippa. I think we will request assistance.
I would like to advise anybody going to Palma airport to BEWARE as these scales are not calibrated and are registering about 10% up in what they should be. I have spoken to reps from three different cmpanies who verified this and they have advised me if you are up to 4 kgs over ask to speak to the airport supervisor or manager and tell them that your case was weighed at your destination airport and you have not added any more to it and refuse to pay the more people that refuse the supervisors will soon get sick of it and get the scales fixed I complained at 3 kgs over ond didnt have to pay
Planning to use my Nationwide card as much as possible due to the woeful rate being offered in the UK high street.
Yes there is. Think it's la Caixa or maybe Sa Nostra, but there is definitely one there.
yes there is 1 near entrance by the way dont get burger king there it tasted horrible we was there last saturday returning from majorca
We are flying into Palma next week. Is there any restriction on the amount of cigarettes you can buy on Palma airport.
Also do they sell Embassy No 1 and how much are they?
Many thanks
Hi michelephil, yes they do sell Embassy No 1, can't remember exactly how much they were , about £24 I think. I've never tried to buy more than the reccommended 3,200, but I did buy that amount last time at Palma airport and had no problems. Hope this helps, Linda.
when they could be in your case and all done..anyone who gets fags from airport need help.16 cartons
This year I was pleased to find that coming home there was one main passport check before we got to the shopping area and departure gates. There was also a smoking area (last year there was a central area with shops and BurgerKing etc but then we had another passport check queue to join before the departure gates, so daren't dawdle).
Anyway, I always put aside an extra 30 euros or so in case of a delay and if I don't need it, I buy an extra carton of cigs in the airport (they are slightly more expensive then in the resorts).
Does anybody know how many euros embassy no 1 are at the airport - my dad bringing some back for me - need to give money before he goes - won't buy in the resort in case he goes over weight allowance at airport!
4 boxes = 1kg but you will be looking at around 34 euro;s
Some Airlines are weighing hand luggage now, and insisting on only one piece of hand luggage. However if you buy cigs at the other side of security, you can take as many as you can manage in carrier bags.
Since excess baggage is about 7.50 euros a KG you have to do the maths.
Cheers
Adam
