Depends how many men you can get to buy you drinks

I go every year in May and last year in 10nights i only spent about £350 - went out for a few meals and went out on the lash 7 times. Its really reasonable in Benidorm compared to other med places and definatley cheaper than most of the Greek resorts ive been to (laganas, Falaraki and Malia) which all seemed to take advatange of when they changed to the Euro

Loads of cheap 2 for 1 drinks in and around the square

:D And John N Josephs do a breakfast for 1 euro!!!!

its just around the square you get 2 for 1 drinks... its nearly all round benidorm. you will find it really really cheap, and yes j&j's breakfasts are awsome.

What do you get for a euro tea and toast!!!

I only ever take £300 with me and I still come home with change. Of course, I am not one for buying 'presents'. That is not what holidays are for IMO. And I always go FULL Board, so have no additional food expenses. £300 is more than adequate for my needs.

I have not eaten myself but have past this place many times and believe that 1 euro is for a basic cooked breakfast not just tea and toast.

Now come on Sanji, be nice to the girl. I've eaten there many a time and lived to tell the tale.
Why has it got such a reputation anyway?

We ate at john & josephs a few years ago, we thought they were ok. Is there something wrong with them now?

£400 should be more than adequte.

Eating out is very good value in Benidorm (Try Chinese  ) and like OwNz_Babeh said you get 2 for 1 on many drinks - especially on the Square.

Cafe Maysan on Calle Lepanto and 'Beefy's diner' (near Jokers) are good value for snacks, pizza's, burgers etc...

I'm sure you'll have a great holiday - Enjoy! :D

Please don't misunderstand me. I am not saying buying gifts for loved ones whilst abroad is wrong. Far from it. Its just that we used to do that in our family many years ago and now that the family has grown up and extended....neices, nephews cousins and so on, it can get very expensive and as such family members no longer expect to be bought pressies. We do send postcards and we do make calls back to the UK, but apart from that we do not turn our holidays into a gift shopping trip. That is not to say I am a 'Scrooge' or a 'Skinflint', far from it. Its just a matter of personal circumstances and opinions. As I have said before, each to their own.

This is basically why I can afford to only take £300 with me. I always book Full Board and do not drink much, so that is more than enough for my own personal needs. If I was to take money with me for pressies etc for all my family and friends I would be looking at upwards of £1.000 and that would make the holiday VERY expensive. You do not need to buy a loved one something to prove your love of them, IMO of course.

I am a "loving" "caring" Son, Brother, Brother-In-Law and Uncle and Friend to a large circle of aquaintances...and my family appreciate my love as much I appreciate theirs. However, it is just something our family do, or rather no longer do. We don't even buy Eggs at Easter or gifts at Christmas any more. We prefer to save out money until the sales and treat ourselves to a bargain. Christmas is just a commercial rip off, as indeed are many holiday souvenir shops, and the ones in Benidorm are mainly the Chinese Tack Shops selling the same old pornographic junk....but that is just my humble opinion. And not a criticism of your generosity to your family for which you are to be commended.

i totally understand what your saying but with having brothers an sisters aged 2, 5, 9, 10, 12 & 15 i just think its a nice gesture to bring them something back as they cant go abroad themselves at the moment.

well as for christmas it might not matter to you now your not 'a child' but for children christmas is great and its also got a meaning its not just about giving gifts.

anyway back on track ha ha

i wouldn`t eat anything from john n josephs again, heard from a few people in the know , that anything that is left on someones plate go`s back into the pot. that will explain why i had brown sauce in my beans and i hate brown sauce :( anyway i`d avoid the place and pay 3 or 4 euros for a real breakfast elsewhere.
