well BHIC im one of those loving caring sisters that always brings her family a little something back... IMO its nice to bring the family a little something back to remind them of beni...
Please don't misunderstand me. I am not saying buying gifts for loved ones whilst abroad is wrong. Far from it. Its just that we used to do that in our family many years ago and now that the family has grown up and extended....neices, nephews cousins and so on, it can get very expensive and as such family members no longer expect to be bought pressies. We
do send postcards and we do make calls back to the UK, but apart from that we do not turn our holidays into a gift shopping trip. That is not to say I am a 'Scrooge' or a 'Skinflint', far from it. Its just a matter of personal circumstances and opinions. As I have said before, each to their own.
This is basically why I can afford to only take £300 with me. I always book Full Board and do not drink much, so that is more than enough for my own personal needs. If I was to take money with me for pressies etc for all my family and friends I would be looking at upwards of £1.000 and that would make the holiday VERY expensive. You do not need to buy a loved one something to prove your love of them, IMO of course.
I am a "loving" "caring" Son, Brother, Brother-In-Law and Uncle and Friend to a large circle of aquaintances...and my family appreciate my love as much I appreciate theirs. However, it is just something our family do, or rather
no longer do. We don't even buy Eggs at Easter or gifts at Christmas any more. We prefer to save out money until the sales and treat ourselves to a bargain. Christmas is just a commercial rip off, as indeed are many holiday souvenir shops, and the ones in Benidorm are mainly the Chinese Tack Shops selling the same old pornographic junk....but that is just
my humble opinion. And not a criticism of your generosity to your family for which you are to be commended.
