Hello all
We have the opportunity to go to this site in late August, but I can find very little info. We have a three year old and a one year old, and would like to be able to walk into town if possible, and also visit kid-friendly places!
Has anyone been here? I can find postings about bigger sites in the locality but not del mar?
Whats the weather and beach like? Is it leafy or just row after row of caravans? What is he best car-hire company, and do you think its worth driving in from barcelona airport (our local airport - Coventry- do really cheap deals, much better than birmingham to perpignan)
Thank you in advance to anyone who may be able to assist.
regards, Lucy.

We have stayed in Argeles sur Mer for the last 3 years and really enjoy it but didn't stay at this campsite.
It will take about 2 hours from Barcelona and about 1/2 an hour from Perpignan Airport.
I'm not familiar with that campsite, but I can definitely recommend Camping la Sirene. We have been going there for the last 4 years & it's a great site for small children, espically in late August when it is beginning to quieten down. It is a big site, but it doesn't have that awful commercialised noisy big-site feel about it. The facilities are fantastic & there is a tourist train (travels on the road) which regularly stops at the site & brings you into the village, the beach resort or the port.
We were in St Cyprien Plage last year which is just next to Argeles and we flew to Barcelona. The drive is very straight forward. We hired our car through Holiday Autos and although it was a Hertz car it was about £150 cheaper than going directly to Hertz. We took our own car seats with us as we were quoted nearly 6 Euros plus tax a day to rent one for our then 19 month old (they didn't have anything for our nearly 5 year old despite it being the law that she needed to be in one) and as we were going for 3 weeks it was cheaper to buy a new seat that would fit any car rather than hire one. When we got to the Hertz desk we were told that they only charge for the first week so it is worth checking that one.
i recommend camping cala gogo at st cyprien plage or camping hippocampe argeles
