hi, we went to the HV last May half term.

the kids had a fab time, although we did not use the clubs.

Inflatables were not allowed in the main pool at all and there was usually 2 or 3 lifeguards about who were very strict on this!

inflatables are allowed in the small kiddie pool.

we had a couple of cut toes from the pool but one of the life guards always had a plaster.

i am sure all of you going will have a lovely time, your kids certainly will!

they can go to the snack bar by the pool themselves to be served, which really is good.

Hi all,

Going ot HV on June 4th and hoping ye can answer some of my questions.

Do men really need to wear long trousers to dinner? Didn't hear anything about that until I read it on here.

Kids Clubs; I have a nearly 9yr old son and am wondering what kind of clubs are there for him? If anybody has experience it would be great to hear what they actually do. Do I need to pre-book a place for him?

Creche: I have a nearly 2yr old daughter and just wondering if there is a creche there for her? I'm not a 100% sure that I would leave her in to one, but would like to hear if anybody has used this facility if available.
Again would I need to pre book, just incase I want to have the option.

Have only booked SC but, from reading all the posts it seems to be better value if I up grade to AI. Or does it?
I know somebody gave the prices and it seems good value, but on the other hand, how expensive is it for SC?
Again would I need to pre book this?

Towels - Do I need to bring any?

Renting a car - Has anybody done this. Have never driven on the Continent before cause all drivers seem mad!!!
Would love to try it for a few days. Are the roads easy to get around?

Sorry about all the questions, have loads more but if somebody could answer some of the above it would be great.

Thanks in advance

beckie,
when we were there men did not have to wear long trousers at the evening meal, but that may have changed.

the onsite supermarket is VERY expensive, it may pay you to upgrade as you have to get a bus or taxi to the nearest village,I think there may have been a supermarket within walking distance but not too sure...............

we did not use kids clubs but i thik places had to be booked.

pool towels are provide, you have to pay a deposit of approx 15 euro per towel, reception then give you a slip of paper that you give to the towel lady by the small baby pool( she arrives about 10am i think)and you can change the towels as often as you want.
at the end of your holiday get a slip of paper back from the towel lady and hand it in to reception to get your deposit back.

My husband and I, our son and wife and 2 year old son went to the Holiday Village at Easter so I may be able to help with some of your questions. We went self catering and only ate once in the restaurant and I believe most, if not all, the men were wearing either long trousers or long shorts.

Kids Clubs/Creche. There are three sorts, Creche 12-35months, Bugs Bunny Club 3-8 years and Wavelength 9-15 which is where your son would go. According to the brochure it's fully supervised with something for everyone from Playstation 2 championships, girlie movie nights and beach barbecues to kayaking and raft building. It was probably those children that we heard and saw in the pool in the afternoons, having races and games. My son used the Creche and I know that they had to book, the first session they booked when the holiday was booked and then they went along every day and asked if there were any places in the morning, afternoon or evening sessions. (I found it surprising that the creche which, as I said went up to 35months was open until 11.00pm!). Although my grandson was rather reluctant whenever he was dropped off at the creche, he soon started playing as the young women who were looking after them put him at ease and were very good. I'm sure your daughter would benefit from a few sessions in the creche. I believe it was £7 a session of around two and a half hours but I could be wrong)

You said that you had only booked SC which is what we did. When we ate at the restaurant it was 20 euros each which, when you compare it with the many restaurants in Fuengirola etc. is very expensive. Unless you are a really big eater it seems a waste to pay that much for something that you could get for quite a bit less outside the compelx. If you upgrade it's 40 euros a day so you have to weigh up the advantages and disadvantages. If you want to eat out you have to take into account the travelling to the restaurants etc.

Towels, I agree with what was said previously.

We rented a car, booked over the internet through Carjet and picked up at the airport. We parked in the underground car park but there are some spaces outside. You've got to be careful with the driving because some people, as you said, are mad! The roads are very easy to get around, except if you go into the middle of Torremolinos when it's crowded!

Hope this helps.

Hi BigDavUk
I just came back from the Holiday Village yesterday. It was a good holiday but I was not too impressed with the food. It was ok, but a bit repetitive. The same food most nights gets a bit boring so I would advise eating out once in a while. I was there for a week, all inclusive, and only went out to eat on the last night to a local seafood restaurant which was amazing.

There is also chicken pox going around right now so if you have kids you need to watch out they dont catch it, prob from the kids club. I met some parents who couldnt travel home because their kid had it and had to stay on in CDS but were getting moved somewhere else as apparently the holiday village was full.

Hello!

Like Michelle and Liz, our Kos holiday was cancelled by First Choice and we are now going to Holiday Village on the 3rd June from Manchester. There will be myself and my husband and our three boys ages 7, 4 and 6mths.

Getting quite excited about it but also a bit nervous as the reviews seem to be very mixed to be honest!

Hopefully we will just let it be a good holiday whatever it is like. The stress over the Kos holiday has taken its toll on us which I'm sure Liz and Michelle can understand, so to be honest as long as there isn't a building site, pools, kids clubs and drink then don't really care to be honest!

Hi all,

Could someone tell me please what the dress code is like for the evening. Does everybody get really dressed up or is it casual enough??
With a nearly 2yr old I really don't want to be getting really dressed up, but would rather be casual so that I can run after her and be comfortable. I know people don't really wear their day clothes (shorts, bikinis etc ), but do they dress up to the nines?

Any comments would be gratefully appreciated.
I am travelling on the 4th June and am now starting to think what will I bring!!!

Thanks

When we were there at the end of April there was a real mixture of the way people dressed in the evening, from total glam and glitz to smart casual to very casual. Men have to wear trousers in the restaurant in the evening but they can be 3/4 length.

Thanks Carol 57, I think i will go with smart casual. I like to get a bit dressed up at night, but not total glam with a toddler in tow.

By the way, did you enjoy the HV. I am a bit nervous going now as I am getting mixed reviews from here, and I booked it last Sept cause I had heard such good reports about it.
