I am going to crete at the end of June for 2 weeks and will be going to a water park, i was there a few years ago and know about star beach but remember my friends going to a really good park heading towards heraklion from malia, wondering if anybody knows what its name is and if the have any links to other water parks?
Also any good restaurants in stalis and surrounding area and good day trips for a couple in their mid 20's??
Acqua plus (INVALID URL
and Anopolis (http://www.mywatercity.gr or http://www.myanopolis.gr or INVALID URL
personally i like acqual plus.
dont know about restaurants to help you tho
Does anyone know about any cool day trips? and the best place to purchase them maybe a cool boat trip or something?
Starbeach was also upgraded last year they have now included their own hotel amongst other things.
sorry if links dont work out. i found them in liflets i got from them. never tried star so i cant comment on that one.
The Aquaslpah is great ! Its fairly dangerous though ! Especially the big black one which i would not recomend for young children at all !!
we went to a water park last year , i think it was called water city near anapolis, (someone correct me if im wrong) it was up in the mountains near anapolis, fantastic day out with superb views. there were 2 tours per day, one left early morning when it was quieter, the other in the afternoon when when the malia brigade arrived and it got busy, never waited more than 20 mins for the main slides though and we are certainly going back in august this year from our base in stalis.....as for cool boat trips try the trip to the island of dia from heraklion, can be booked with either your holiday rep or through the many tour shops, theres a small beach on the island with a taverna, crystal clear waters great for snorkeling but can get a little crowded in the hight of summer but theres plenty of places to lie on rocks etc, again will be going back there this year, take care
Thank you so much i find this forum so useful i went to algarve last year and got so many good tips cheers...
now i am going to satlis and now want to now the best restaurants and bars lol dont want much do i am just sooo excited.
cant help you with stalis as its our 1st time as well, stopped in hersonissos last year down the road, can recommend many bars and restuarants there lol, going for the quieter option this year and theres nothing better than seeking out your own bars/ places to eat in crete, stalis looks cool.....roll on august 6th
I'm a keen favourite of stalis and am returning in august for the 6th time!!! There are a great variety of pubs, restuarants and theme bars etc, all garunteeing a brill time, day and nite.
top restuarants i can recomend a good meal and atmosphere are THE BAYWATCH, EL GRECO AND MEMPHIS. real cheap, but fab food and always a few liquers and shots thrown in for good measure!!
Best pub is WAGON AND HORSES AND THE ROYAL OAK, with your typical english atmosphere, quiz nights on the adult side!! and good ole karaoke.
I recommend that when you decide on your boat trips really consider SPINALONGA, cool day out, great value and ace for blasting the sun tan the day before you fly home...believe me ive done it 5 years now without fail. One thing i would advise though is not to book straight away when flagged by your holiday rep, you will discover that alot of the little travel agencies on every corner in stalis do better deals with the same entertainment factor. Last year i went for 20euros cheaper than the rep was offering and free bbq on the beach while the boat dropped anchor to let us swim and snorkel out in the bay.
Heres to a great 1st time in stalis for you. Enjoy. Where are you staying?
Cheers
thanks for the stalis info suzie, we are staying at the dias appts which look ok in the brochure but just waiting for a review on them to come along on here lol. heard good reports on stalis from people in hersonissos last year hence our decision to go there this year. we are 2 40yr olds with a sixteen year old daughter and she had her 1st taste of crete last summer and loved it. spinalonga sounds great, we wil do it this year im sure and we made the mistake of booking trips through the tour rep last year realising as we compared prices with shops in hersonissos we had paid well over the top........you live and learn eh !!!, are you going back to stalis this year??
Rick.
thanks for for info rick, was going to avoid malia like the plague but may have a look at the old town now, i know we are not goung to see much of the authentic crete in stalis but did find a few good greek restuarants last year around hersonissos, maybe its me , maybe im old fashioned but i struggle to find the point of travelling across europe to spend my two weeks sat in an english pub or mcdonalds. my 16 yr old daughter will argue the toss but generally we manage to find a happy medium.
I will try all of the restaurants and bars mentioned of course. The boat trip sounds great i love all of that on holiday and will def use the small agents instead of reps to save a few pennies
I am staying at the Soula Studios in stalis me and my partner both mid 20's although she would argue that she is early 20's which she is but it makes me feel better The reports on the soula look good any other info on these would be cool.
