In April last year myself, my boyfriend, our 2 children and my mum and dad booked at the Caleta Dorada Bungalows in Fuerteventura for august of this year.
We booked a 2 bed roomed apartment for the six of us. We now know (not from FC themselves but from looking at the brochure) that they no longer do 2 bedroom apartments that sleep 6 people, they now only do kids den rooms that sleep a maximum of 5.
I contacted my TA and they chased it up with FC and told us that we are now in 2 one bed roomed apartments. This is ok, but we actually paid an under occupancy fee for the 2 bed apartment as there were only 4 adults sleeping in it.
My sister has booked at the same time for the same place, there are 5 of them so they have given her a family den room"¦ and refunded her the £700 in supplements that she paid for the 2-bed apartment.
Now, even though the rooms they have given me would have cost a lot more (almost £1500 by today's prices ) as I didn't ask for these rooms and I didn't book these rooms, could I claim back my supplements?
It won't be a lot but we have saved really hard for the last 13 months for this holiday so every little helps.
My gut instinct tells me you've got a bit of a nerve.
However, I see your point but from a different perspective. Suppose you accept the new arrangements and they are not practical when you get there. For example, the two units may be separated by some distance and you are travelling as a group - that's why you originally booked ONE apartment. Check that aspect with the T.O.
Also, with an aprtment you would have had seating in the larger 6 occupancy for 6 people at the dinig table - plates etc for 6 settings. Now, if you decide to eat in/b-b-q etc. you'll need to start taking stuff to each other's room. We did this last year with friends on hol. and it's OK but we planned to have 2 sep. apartments not one joined.
On the plus side, you'll possibly have more bathrooms than with one apartment but not have the "togetherness" of being in one place.
I'd be tempted to get clear assurances on these points from the T.O. as they ARE changing the booking considerably when they split you like this.
Mike
we booked together so we could spend time as a family, my mum is disabled and wanted to spend time with my kids as she can't cope with them alone (they are 3 and 4, I barely cope.. lol)
I'm more annoyed that FC still hasn't even bothered to inform me of these changes, if it wasn't for me showing the kids the hotel on the FC website and picking up a new brochure I may never have known.
I'm due at the TA tomorrow to pay my final balance so it might be time to have another chat.
Sam.
Seem to recall that there's a problem for T.O.'s making significant changes to bookings AFTER the final balance paid.
