Considering visiting Olhos de Agua in September. I don't think there is much there but we are going for the nice hotel. Will the weather still be good in September, does it turn cool at night?
Are Albufeira and Vilamoura the closest and best places to visit whilst there? We will be hiring a car and wondered what the journey
is like from the airport to Olhos de Agua.
Any other help would be great, many thanks
Olhos de Agua is a lovely, laid-back little place and easily reached along the E125 road from the airport.
The weather should still be good in September with temps in the mid 70's (at least I hope so as we'll be just down the road in Lagos) although it may turn a bit chilly in the evenings especially if the wind is off the ocean, so you'd be best to pack trousers and long sleeves just in case.
You'll be pretty much central where you're staying and ideally placed for visiting all of the Algarve as you're hiring a car. I would suggest you visit the western Algarve - Lagos, Sagres and Cap St. Vincent for breathtaking scenery; Silves for a bit of history and the Monchique mountains for some unspoilt countryside.
Hope this has whetted your appetite for the Algarve - just shout if there's anything else you'd like to know.
Is Albufeira worth a visit? Have heard it is over-rated and lots of building work going on. Do you know if there is a lot of building work going on at Olhos de Agua?
The Old Town in Albufeira is nice and some of the beaches are great, but great beaches are something that you'll be spoilt for on the Algarve!
It's a couple of years since I was in Olhos so I'm afraid I can't help with your last question but I'm certain that there is someone on H.T. who goes regularly- why don't you start a new topic with Olhos de Agua in the title and I'm sure they'll pick up on it and give you the information you need.
I went to look at an apartment in Olhos d Agua just under 2 years ago. I liked it so much I purchased. Olhos is a smashing place you'll love it. Theres loads of bars and restaurants and 2 lovely beaches within walking distance. Bad news is once you've been you'll keep going back.
Were off again in 4 weeks, so I can maybe update you.
It would be very useful if you could let me know what you find Mad Mick although we will have to book pretty soon if we want to get the flight that we want.
Good to hear that Olhos is nice. Can you reach the beach by car to avoid the steep climb down and back up again as I have mobility problems and it may be too strenuous? If not, I presume there are some easy to reach beaches nearby?
Thanks again for all the help and info!!
Yes you can reach the main beach by car. But I think Rui Palace has a lift down to the beach. Yes there is some building work going on and you will notice it if you are on the landward side of the hotel. Hotel by the way is superb. Although its had a bad effect on the local economy. I'm not sure how much building work theres left to do I'm afraid.
hi all me and my friend are thinking of going to albufeira on october the 7th has anybody else been that time of year and whats the weather like then
