Thanks, that seems quite resonable to me! I was expecting the cost to be double at least!!

I will definately put that on my "must do" list!

Hi We are off to Sherwood tomorrow, me and my husband and two year old. Were taking our dog and my mum and dad. Just wanted any info on the takeaways or places to eat in. Wish I had found this site sooner!

Hi lisbob soz bit late with this comment there are loads of places to eat to suit all tastes most restaurants offer a discount for takeaway but we have found out from going 6 or 7 times to centerparcs that if you want to eat in the indian or chinese you need to book before you leave home if you leave it till you get there you prob wont get in hope this helps others if too late for your trip have a great time if you read this before you go :P

I know there has been talk about a fifth Center Parcs for the UK.

Does anyone know if it ever came to anything, i.e where is it going to be located, is it a work in progress or did they fail to get planning permission?

Yes ...they are trying to build it in Bedfordshire, just outside Bedford where i live, theres quite a few heated discussions as to the benefits or not to the local community.
Ive never been personally to Center Parcs as have heard about having to book up all your activities in advance & when im on holiday i dont want this sort of timetable.
I have used the equivalent in Belgium & was pleasantly surprised as to how nice the holiday was.
As they say "Everyone to there own" when it comes to holidaying & mine has changed from worldwide to staying back in the UK.

Hi Shonegar, I am horrified to read your post, the whole reason we go to centre parcs is to relax and chill, we always have 2 sessons at the aqua sana on each visit and we try to go twice a year, purely and simply to relax in the quiet and peacefull surroundings. If this is in fact the case and they now allow children in there they have just lost our custom, I will check this out and if it is confirmed we will not visit again, I am truely upset by this news.

I have just phoned centre parcs and spoken to someone in the Aqua sana at Sherwood, She told me that they now allow 14 year olds in with their parents only, unaccompanied over 16 and she said that it really hasn't changed much because children don't tend to use the facility and the ones that do are girls coming in with their mums. She has assured me that the tranquility has not been affected. We will see :o We are going to sherwood in November I will reserve judgement until I see for myself and of course if anyone goes in the mean time perhaps they can they let us know Cheers

That would seem about right Trod. It has always seemed very tranquil when I've been there.

Also, my daughter can't wait to turn 14 so she can come with me whilst my son who's 15 has no interest whatsoever (would be appalled at the ver thought) and I can't think my daughter would spoil the relaxing atmosphere at all.

Hi

I'm planning on going to centre parcs Sherwood Forest for the first time in October. I wanted to know what the comfort accomodation is like. I'm unsure if to go comfort plus but as it's only for a few days I thought we might be better putting the money we save on activities. I don't want to go in accomodation that might be too basic.

Also someone told me that some of the accomodation is a little bit on the tired side. Does anyone know if they have recently refurbished any of them.

They have been undergoing a refurbishment programme at Sherwood for sometime now and you're right, the villas definitely needed it. I'm not sure whether it's finished or still ongoing but the sales staff will know.

If it's ongoing you can ask for a refurbished comfort villa when you book as the sales staff will have this information or can certainly find it out for you. You will have to pay the supplement for choosing your villa location but it's only about £18 (I think),

As for the comfort vs comfort+ the main difference is that you get a dishwasher in the +. You also get towels and a few other bits and bobs but the standard of furnishings (as long as they're refurbished) is the same.

For me it would come down to how much I wanted a dishwasher!

Thanks for the reply. As we're only going for a few days I'm not that bothered about a dishwasher, if it was for two weeks that would be a different matter.

From what you've said we'll proberbly go with the comfort villa. I was going to book online but I think I'll phone instead now and then I can enquire about getting a refurbished one.

Hello, hubby and i are looking to have a long weekend end together on our 1st wedding anniversary in december without the kids. We like the idea of a relaxing escape in peace with just the two of us and are looking at longleat. As it will be a special time we were thinking of going for a penthouse lodge which i understand are that be closer to the attractions at the parc. Has any one else booked on of these befor, and if so are they good?

I'm also wondering if we left it more closer to actually booking does the price come down a little? Obviously we would run the risk of that accomadation then not being avalaible but am curious to know......

Any other information that you may have on this parc would be great to hear of too.

Thanks in advance!!

p.s-How much are the passes for the villiage/entertainment? Have heard that you have to pay for these on top of your accomadation charges :?

If you register with them they send you offer codes. You often can save when its the off-season, and especilly when there are just two of you-like you say you run the risk of not getting your first choice accommodation, or park. Longleat always attracts the lower discounts. Whinfell seems to attract the higher.

The pool was free, other sports you pay for. Bike hire has always been expensive, I feel, given the quality of bike (unless they have improved somewhat) So, if you have one, take your own.

Classes and court hire I found to be about a pound or two per hour more than the local leisure centre.

The spa day access wasn't cheap either (I can't remember the rate) but it was so worth it for relaxation. The treatments were expensive, but they always are at health farms aren't they? We didn't use those.

You have to book all these things early. I believe some more expensive accommodation comes with pre-booking ability now. It didn't when we went.

As for the lodge where is it close too? The problem with Longleat is if you are near the spa/sports you are not near the pool/plaza/shops, and vice versa. Make sure you are near the one you want, or you will be paying a premium for a long walk/cycle!

You mention passes. You may have come across the question regarding day passes. Thats not for you. Thats for friends you may know living in the area who want to join you in Center Parcs for the day-just covering entrance and use of pool. As a renter of accomodation on site you pay as you go for anything you want, except the free pool.

my hubi booked a penthouse apartment for my 30th birthday it was very nice little extras like a washer dryer which came in very handy for the towels etc jacuzzi bath, it is a nice view and near the centre, you get access to them earlier and can leave later with this accommodation, if it is for a special occasion i would book any restaurants before you go as it gets booked up although if i were you i would get a takeaway and enjoy the apartment youv paid extra for, and you get a discount from the restaurants for takeaway

thanks for that! In the brochure it states that these apartments come with a sauna too? Is this true?

You are losing the children for a long weekend and want to go somewhere that's full of children? If I were in a position and suggested CP to my wife she'd kill me!!

 Good point for most! We dont mind at all about there being other peoples children around as we are foster carers and parents too so very children orientated!!!!!! Just with it being a special time and not being able to go away long we think center parcs will do the job!!

Any one else who has any info on longleat please share!

Thanks!

saunas is a new one on me but it is 4 years since we rented one of these apartments so you never know, there was a sauna in the spa :P

The Penthouse Apartments at longleat come with a sauna on the upper patio which also have wonderful views if I were you I would book one in the Redwood Apartments as they have the better view and are away from the Swimming pool.
