We are booked to stay in Matina Apartments in Pefkos 23rd August for 2 weeks. first time there. Does anyone know if the Matina has an email
address, so I can contact them.
Is anyone else going at this time. The reviews I have read are very good which is why we booked there.
Also how far is it from the beach?
Do the apartments have TV?
Any suggestions on which are the best apartments - if we have a choice!?
Do they all have sea view - which ones do?
I have heard that the coach transfer from airport can take over 2 hours
on a bad day. Is it worth getting a taxi instead and how much would it cost?
Look forward to hearing from anyone.
many thanks

Coach transfer can take up to to hours, it all depends on how many other drop offs your coach does. Taxi would be quicker, but I can't help with the cost.
Pefkos is quite a nice little place with some good tavernas and bars. People are really friendly, and its only about five-ten minutes on the local bus if you want to go to Lindos.
I don't know Matina but i've sometimes taken a taxi instead of the transfer coach when i've been to Lindos.
I'd ask the rep at the airport if there are many drops and how long the transfer is expected to take (in August they'll have done enough runs to give you some idea). You can decide then whether you take the bus or make your own way.
Taxis are always available just outside arrivals and it takes around 45-50 mins by car. Can't give you an exact price but Lindos is 37 euros so expect to pay around 40-42 for Pefkos, a taxi driver will always be able to give you the price before you leave.
We were in room 106,beside the pool, and the sea view was absolutely fantastic, however,if your near pool i hope your a night owl, twice weekly karaoke is so loud i should think it carries to rhodes town, also music and overly loud guests can sometimes be abit loud in the early hours.Them minor niggles aside, its a very nice place to stay, and our transfer took about 1hour 15minutes.Hope you have a great time
By the way, rooms do have tvs but only three channels, one french news, one cartoon, and entertainment television, also hotel is right beside the beach, about 3minute walk away, any other questions dont hesitate to ask
thanks for your replies.
Linda thalassi apartments look really nice, I looked at these but the cost was quite high over - So decided on Matina as a good deal and the reviews were good.
Hope we won't be dissapointed. Only need a a clean place to sleep, air-con, and near the beach etc.
TV - can you get BBC world service and news etc?
Transfer time 1 hr 15minutes isn't too bad.
Can anyone recommend some good bars for cocktails (for me)
I have heard that Philosophia is very good for food.
Other recommendations for good greek food and atmosphere much appreciated.
We are going to spend 2 nights in Rhodes old town in the middle of our holiday. As I couldn't decide on where to stay, (rhodes town or seaside resort) wanted the best of both worlds!! So have booked at Ganymedes Hotel in Rhodes old town for 2 nights, so we can sightsee and have romantic meals (hopefully) then back to Pefkos. Husband thinks I'm a bit mad doing this, a 'holiday within a holiday' but I think its great idea.
He will see my sense when he gets there.
Any recommendations on where is best to eat and drink in Rhodes town very much appreciated, as we only have 2 days there!!!
Many thanks
Wendy
Air conditioning is a touch pricey however, but definately required. When you get the remote for your air conditioning you should also ask for your TV remote. The TV will pick up BBC World which is handy.
When we arrived our transfer took 40 minutes as all the passengers were going to Pefkos, which was great. However the return took nearly 2 hours as we went via Lindos and Stegna so I guess its just pot luck how quick you will get there. I'd say its not worth the taxi fare and take the chance.
I cant recommend any cocktail bars as we don't drink them, but nice bars are a plenty in Pefkos so I am sure you will be okay. As for food, yes the Philosophia is very good, but I have to say number 1 for us was the Tsambikos Taverna at the top of the hill next to the bakery - absolutely fantastic, some locals recommended it to us on the second to last day of our holiday. We had some lovely meals in Pefkos, but were gutted we didnt get to know about this earlier in our holiday.
If you like greek kebabs, make sure you visit Alexandros - top notch stuff, also lea beach bar is nice for a drink during the day to shelter from the heat by the beach - ice cold Mythos and a Gyros to die for.
Enjoy pefkos, we did - plus the Matina I cant speak highly enough for, 3 stars is a bit stingy, I reckon its worth 4 !
Does anybody know if the martina apartments in pefkos have a website to book direct with them
Many thanks
Theresa
