Thanks for the details we have booked it now I'm sure we can make the most of the holiday if it does happen to be bad. I have to agree with other posts on this forum it is confusin one report is fab the next is saying such bad things you wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!!!!
But at least they haven't cancelled two bookings like holidays 4u which is why we are going to Tunisia in the first place.I am most definately looking forward to it now and will soon be counting my sleeps until we travel.
I have to comment on how helpful Thomas Cook were, They had nothing to do with the first bookings to Turkey yet they took the time to find holidays within the budget we had refunded by holidays 4u. THOMAS COOK in BOOTLE,LIVERPOOL were great espeically HEATHER. WELL DONE YOU!!!!!!!!
If you have SKY digital watch Thompson holiday channel! They have regular programmes about Tunisia and today featured Dar Khayem. It looks ok basic but clean! I noticed there were lots of families! Good sign I hope!
We went here five years ago and friends have been back since, we are going again (11 of us in total) this August. The hotel is clean but basic the food although ediable is repetative but for the price we found it excellent value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful and the animation team work really hard, please remember this is Africa and Tunsia is still classed as Third World.
Really looking forward to a holiday now after being let down twice with turkey. ut we are forgetting that now and looking forward to Tunisia.
just wondered about tipping,we went to the maldives on all inc, and you needed to tip your waiters who served you drinks, just wondered if this was the case here. also do you need to carry any money around during the day?
Booked to go to the Dar Khayam next month after a friend has just come back form there and loved it, said it was great for kids, and also the reviews seem to be pretty good of late, was wondering if anyone else has been recently and how they found it...
Thanks
Jay.
Going on 29 July and can't wait.
We were at the Dar Khayam about 4 years ago and there was a facilty for changing money at the hotel. I seem to remember there was also a currency exchange/phone shop about 2 minutes walk away from the hotel.
just wondering has anyone stayed here lately,if so did you have a good holiday.going 6 weeks on sunday.
thanks tracey
I asked my friend who was there about 6 weeks and as far as she could tell they do not sell 'other' brands at the Dar Khayam, We are off there tomorrow, so I'll be sure to make a note, well Hubby will anyway as he's a bitter drinker I'll let you know when we get home.
JJ
