IT specialists SITA have carried out research on missing bags from scheduled operators during 2005. Looks as if more bags were lost than ever before and its not just due to increase in passengers going through airports!
30 million bags went missing (reported) from information gathered from airlines serving 220 countries. ...Air Malta were top of delivery poll ie (NOT losing bags) by only mishandling 4.3 bags per thousand pax. BA were 17.7 bags per 0,000 pax , BMI 14.4 bags, Spanair 9.0 bags, Air France 15.0 bags, Lufthansa 16.3 bags and KLM 19.1 bags. Naturally some of the carriers do have a throughput of more passengers than others but interesting nonetheless.

I also worry when say 3 bags out of our set of 4 arrive together and you wait ages for the last one and then it arrives right at the end. The last time this happened to us at EMA we found that the late case had been robbed!! My theory is that if they all go on the plane together, they should all arrive off the plane together!
