Nearest reasonable sized resort would probably be Roses. About 2 hours drive around the Corniche. Spectacular views along the way. Smaller resorts and bays as you go should you wish to stop.

We went to Roses which was wonderful. We stayed at argeles and drove through the mountains. it was scary at points and the mad cyclists did not help

On the way back we took the motorway.

Days later we went up the road to Canet plage which was even better.

Spain is slightly cheaper and we stocked up there. Andora would be a better option of a journey in my opinion.

Go with an almost empty fuel tank and fill up in Spain where the fuel is about 20 to 25% cheaper than France.
