Hi all
My wife and I are 100% Parga lovers and I would like to know from other Parga lovers if any of you have been to Kokkari in Samos, and if you have what did you think of it and how does it compare to Parga.
Any information would be much appreciated thanks
Graham
We've only been to Parga once but absolutely loved it and will definitely go back. We have been to Samos twice (last time 10 years ago) but stayed just outside Pythagorian at Potokaki. We did drive over to Kokkari but chose a very dull day and it didn't look the least bit appealing. I can't really give you much of an opinion except to say that Kokkari was not a patch on Parga as it was nowhere near as beautiful or scenic. Samos itself however is a lovely island it's full of history has loads of ruins and the people are extremely friendly. There are just 2 sandy beaches both called Psilli Ammos at either end of the Island and most of the rest are pebbles apart from Kambos which is sand and shingle (though that wasn't even a resort when we were there!)
Because of its close proximity to Turkey it has military bases around every corner and we saw soldiers out and about all the time but that wasn't a problem. It's also very windy and has wind farms which we've never come across anywhere else.
We haven't been back to Samos because we have a little boy now and children and pebbles really don't go well together! But we fell in love with the place and would like to return one day.
Hope this helps a bit
Diane
Kokkari is very much smaller than Parga, its a very pretty little village but the main beach is not very appealing. Its frequently very windy and quite exposed hence the popularity of windsurfing here. We think its best for day trips on calm days

Kiltman-Graham have a look at this little site that ardwyn has done. should hopefully give you some idea, if you dont mind hiring a car and getting out and about samos has some great little coves to sunbathe and swim from, we`ve been twice now i`m only sorry i let her indoors talk me into going to corfu this year .
It was looking at Ardwyns pictures of Kokkari that had given me the idea of going.
I have been trying to actually find any tour companies that go to Kokkari, but so far have not found any
Graham
have you tried thomson`s???
Thomson don't seem to go either, unless I have missed something - which would not be unusual
Pretty sure Sunvil have got property in Kokkari
Try Thomson again, they are showing availability in Kokkari.
I am def missing something, did you find the availability on the web site and if so how did you find it
I don't know if the problem is that we are trying to book for June / July 2007 flying from Manchester (I dont think we can fly from Scotland ) so if you can give me a clue that would be great.
Thanks
Graham

The availability is there for this year, it must be to early for 2007
At least I know Thomson go there this year so hopefully they will also be going to Kokarri in 2007.
Looking at the pictures it has a certain appeal to it.
Thanks everybody
Graham
We travelled to Kokkari in Sept '04 with Greek Sun at the Athena Hotel. We were the only Brits staying in the hotel but no problem at all, we couldn't fault it.
