I have just bought a Hitachi dvd camcorder from jessops it is a new model, number DZ-X337E it retails at £449 but has £170 off at the moment it records straight to DVD and also has a slot to put your SD card from your digital camera in, so you get the best of both worlds, as you can video onto the dvd and take photos onto your sd card, also should you video something and want part of the film as a photo you pause at the bit you want and transfer to you sd card.
May not apeal to all but saves carrying two items about and the size of the camcorder is not much biggger than a digital camera!!
