Well we have just returned from another fantastic holiday in Icmeler. Did some more of the day trips, Surf and Turf, Lazy day, and went over to Rhoddes. One down fall though Booked the trip to Pamukkale, worse thing we have ever done. Dont be fooled by what some people tell you like we were.1st we had to be up for 6-30 for the bus to pick us up. All pilled in, picking up in Icmeler and Marmaris. We were then told by the courier that we would stop for breakfast, carry on to a small Turkish Village and then on to Pamukkle. 2hrs in to the journey we stayed for a lovely breakfast with free tea and coffee and cold drinks. Then off to the Turkish Village for dinner.
The Little Turkish Village turned out to be the carpet factory were we had to stay for 2 hrs before lunch. Yes, nice lunch but had to pay for drinks and try had to fight the carpet man off to stop hassling us to buy a carpet!!!! Then another 2hr journey to Pamukkle. On the way there we were then told that,,,, it had now dried up, NO water over flowed and you could only paddle in water that just covered your ankle bones Oh yes, we could swim in Cleopatras pool for an extra £18 per person!!! Wel, what else could we do in 102 degree heat I have never felt so ripped off in all my life. None of this is explained when booking which cost us £12.50 each in the 1st place. So after arriving back at our hotel that night at 8pm, yes, a very long day we decided NO more day trips. Take care and be happy. Anna xxxxx
Cleopatras pool was 18 lira pp not £18.
Hi yes that is the same trip as we went on i thought it was a value for money day out,we really enjoyed it and thought it interesting at the carpet factory one visit but would get boring everytime, cleopatrics pool was great but we only paid 18 lira as well, which worked out about £6-£7.We also had to pay for drinks with our meal but a whole day out for that price we thought was very reasonable. The tour rep guy was great and very helpful, they have stopped certain places of the pamukale being walked on to preserve the beauty of it,how can they make that again, like stonehenge you cannot go on that again
But we stayed over night at a really nice 5 star hotel, with show included, had a great time, but a very long journey.
Went on a trip to Patar, some years ago,we all voted NOT to go to the CF
driver and rep were not best pleased, but we all stood our ground, spent more time on the beach instead, so why not try that yourself next time.
It made our day.
as for the trip, it was something i was looking at - but do not think i will bother now.
i understand about them needing to preserve it and stuff, but it should have been made clear that you would not be allowed full access at the time of booking.

this sort of thing does need preserving as it is a wonder of the world and was suffering from decay as other threads have said ask these sort of questions before booking or do a private booking once you have checked everything out it can be a really enjoyable trip if you take advise from others
try ordering a trip with no "extras".might cost you a bit more but better value for money........cheap trips mean visit to commission locations

Sorry about the miss print above it was 18 lira and not £18. I still think it was a rip off. (my view i know ) I do understand that Pamukkle is a wonder of the world and does need preserving but i do think we should have been told that parts were closed and most were now green with mold, and not white !!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to moan. Take care. Anna xxxxxxxx
