Hi,
Ok I have looked and reception is fine, the supermarket is fine, the restaurant/bar area next to the reception is fine as is the bigger bar. The pools are fine. The restaurant that used to stand next to block A accommodation is gone and the area has been fenced off and they are currently clearing the site. As a result of this, the apartments directly behind this are closed, but it is only about 20 apartments out of 200 or so on site. 2 apartments need new windows and a lick of pàint. There is enough accommodation to go round to honour everybody's bookings as Oasis Dunas was never exclusively a tour operator complex anyway and they always had spare apartments. This is why the tour ops have not contacted anybody as there is no need. So everybody have a good holiday and stop worrying :D

Thanks Haddy .. I just wanted to make sure that you hadn't somehow missed it, when you didn't comment or acknowledge it and posted to raych instead. Hopefully it may have given you some reassurances, after previous understandable concerns and questions.

Thanks again 'ThePeacockRocks'

Folks, I was in the Oasis Duna when the fire arose. The headboard of my bed was against one of the supporting walls of the The Tucan restaraunt which burnt to the ground. You will understand when I do not share the entusiasim of others who may have surveyed the damage retrospectivly as I had to get my 3 young children and wife out of the apartment after been luckily awoken by a security guard shouting FUEGO,FUEGO... and I was not the only family, indeed others had even more harrowing experiences.

HOWEVER, you must understand that NO AUDIBLE FIRE ALARM WAS ACTIVATED TO ALERT GUESTS. NO SMOKE ALARMS ARE IN THE APARTMENTS. NO HEAD COUNT WAS TAKEN after the fire and NOR is there FIRE ASSEMBLY POINT ARE MARKED in the complex.

The fire was apparently spotted by a pool attendant arranging sun beds. A very loud and audible and devestating explosion took place shortly after this evacuation and the rest is history. It was a miracle that no one was hurt.

We were then relocated at the rear of Block B where there was an awful smell of sewage present along with plenty of mosquitos. ( Yes, just the way you expect to be treated after your 2,4,6 yearold are put through something you wouldn't wish on an enmy!!!!) I had a bad experience and to date no-one from the travel company responsible has bothered to contact me despite a number of official written complaints lodged with the reps on the complex.

Enjoy yourselves but beware that the fire, health & safety standards in the UK and Ireland are way higher than you can expect abroad. The standards that you would expect the travel company who takes your money , to insist upon before locating you in these complexes do not exist: For god sake even a smoke alarm could be purchased for 4euro in B&Q. Their motto says they "care" : They didn't care about me or my family.... BEWARE

Ive just got back from an excellent 2 week stay at the oasis dunas. At 6.45am on the night of my arrival I was woken by banging on the door only to look out of the window and see the tucan restaurant inferno about 20 metres from my aprtment. We got transferred to another room later that morning with great help form the airtours staff and dunas staff. The restaurant is obviously not there anymore but apartments damaged are sealed off any you shouldnt notice them. Restaurant remains have now been demolished. Pool etc is great and no damage caused. pool bar is open later for food but menu is poor. There are plenty of restaurants in Corralego so you shouldnt have problems. A magical holiday was had and only a slight inconvenience of moving. We had a free day at the water park because of the haslle we had. Go ahead with hols as you will have a great time.

hi all just back from my week away at the oasis duna i am pleased to say we all had a fab time none of you will be dissapointed this is the first holiday in the canaries we have thorougly enjoyed.believe me you can not even tell were the toucan was it is not noticible at all. the apartment we had was A 506 which was an upstairs which i requested as there are a few cockroaches about but not too many i only saw them on my way to the kids club around the back. the pools area is fantastic the kids loved it but i would say please keep your eye on your kids as it does get deep in places and i had t o go in after my lad when he got out of his depth but the life guard was straight of his chair ready but he was ok. the place is surrounded by palms and cactus plants very tidy place reception staff great. we did not eat at the pool side bar as we found a very cheep cafe on the beach in town which did gorgeous baguettes for 2 euros for dinner time and then onto the steak houses for evening meal. must eat at penny lanes she is lovley and did a great sunday roast for 8 euros.wakiki is a good restaurant and corintina on the beach is good for dinner like i said before. they also have a steak house restaurant around the corner i think its called la tamirindo or something like that your steak comes sizzling to your place its the best place we ate.entertainment was good and everyone there was all friendly kids had a fab time.cleaners came i every day except sunday.kids club and reps were great must send the kids to the birthday bash at 12 euros each you get 3 hours peace.heaven.well thats about it. none of you will be dissapointed its great and i would return again.happy holidays  p.s great weather very hot and the breeze is a welcome.
