Hi Trev,
having a look at the BOV site today's buying rate is just over 41 Maltese cents for a euro. Many shops and resaurants are now excepting euros at various rates between 35 Maltese cents to 40 Maltese cents per euro. By the way....we are not allowed to call a euro a euro over here :tut it is a ewro according to Maltese language experts

When does Malta join the "eurozone"

ETA: Oops sorry should have read the link. Must dig out my 7 lira in notes from 2004 next summer

when join eurozone ? hasn't been fixed yet, but have to reach all the economic criteria first (inflation, debt/GDP etc etc) - most likely is 2008 or 2009

Thanks for your replies. I don't know if I'm saying the right thing and I'm not a person to 'bury his head in the sand' but I quite like Maltese Liri and I think it will be very sad if the ewro (thanks ingliza!) is adopted, :sulk
