Hi Folks,
My son went to Italy with his School recently and although we gave him plenty to spend in Euros he came back with a lot of this money. We thought that since we're off to Malta in August perhaps it would be best if he took these Euros with him and exchanged them for Maltese currency rather than exchange them back into sterling. Could anyone on hols (Sliema2) at the moment or resident in Malta/Gozo (Gozomark, or ingliza!) please let us know the exchange rate is for Euros is at the moment in Malta?
Looking this up on the net I feel is a waste of time because in the past, I've never found the exchange rate to be the same for sterling as what I've actually got when I'm in Malta!

having a look at the BOV site today's buying rate is just over 41 Maltese cents for a euro. Many shops and resaurants are now excepting euros at various rates between 35 Maltese cents to 40 Maltese cents per euro. By the way....we are not allowed to call a euro a euro over here it is a ewro according to Maltese language experts

ETA: Oops sorry should have read the link. Must dig out my 7 lira in notes from 2004 next summer
when join eurozone ? hasn't been fixed yet, but have to reach all the economic criteria first (inflation, debt/GDP etc etc) - most likely is 2008 or 2009
Thanks for your replies. I don't know if I'm saying the right thing and I'm not a person to 'bury his head in the sand' but I quite like Maltese Liri and I think it will be very sad if the ewro (thanks ingliza!) is adopted,
