Booked a holiday for March 2007 to this hotel in April 2006 and paid £680 per person.

Just found this on the Hotetur website the hotel is closed from 1 May 2006 for six months as it is being upgraded to a 4 star hotel.

I'm not sure (the website is not very clear) but I also think they are changing the name of the hotel to Hotel Blue Bay Getaway Villas Doradas, this is what the website says:

The hotel Blue Bay Getaway Villas Doradas, located in the heart of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, will open in November 2006. At this all-inclusive hotel only for adults, you can take advantage of the exclusive environment of the Playa Dorada Resort and of its 18 hole golf course. Consult your wedding and honeymoon specialist: the most romantic escape only for the most demanding of guests.

Looks like we got more of a bargain than we first thought.
