We had 6 days there 3 years ago in January.
We were upgraded to a suite which was gorgeous. We had just booked a sea view room.
If you haven't already done so try and book a sea view and a high floor if possible. The views are lovely.
It is just a couple of minutes walk to the sea and even less to the marina.
Quite small gardens and outdoor pool area but you are so close to that beautiful beach it does not matter.
Breakfast was very good - we had one evening meal in the hotel but you can get better and far more choice in and around the marina. The restaurants right on the marina are more expensive than those just behind - you pay for the view.
Vilamoura is a fairly modern purpose built resort with a fantastic long stretch of beach. Be prepared for lots of golfers as this is a golfing resort!
If you can get out and head for the western Algarve - hire a car to see the best. That end of the Algarve has loads of little coves and a beautiful coastline.
