Hi and thanks to All who sent messages in late May on Restaurants in Cala Bona - we had a great time end of May-beginning of June and lovely area!! Could almost see Clint Eastwood as the Man With No Name riding in from the hills - great scenery!
We had a wonderful time eating in the area! Good picks food and price wise included Nautica on the waterfront-East End - enjoyed by the locals -we felt very comfortable - their Sangria was the nicest served - lots of lovely fresh fruit with the wine in glass. Food was very good and a great selection for adults and children of local and international specialties.
Smithys also was a hit on the Waterfront - West end for fish and chips and I saw lovely burgers going by. Very good service!
Our family's favourite was CHIRI'S owned by Snr. Juan on Waterfront - East end (next to Nautica). Excellent quality of food - great prices. The owner ensures all are looked after - they have a mixed staff of European and Argentinian waiters (that was fun when Argentina was gearing up for its first game in the World Cup(!!) whose service was impeccable. Most nights each child receives a complimentary toy (e.g. little car etc) and the food is wonderful. I would recommend the paella - it takes a little longer but there's enough for two and the tastiness of the shell fish is superb!
For dessert - if you want a bit of fun and fantastic presentation - ask for the Strawberry Flambe @ €4.95. They push a mini stove in front of your table - mix fantastic liqueurs in with a large bowl of strawberries and flambe these - then serve on a plate with two large scoops of vanilla ice cream and two bisquits - WOW - the combination. We and the children devoured it between us (no alcohol to worry about after the cooking - just taste).
Thanks to all who recommended the above and all the other places suggested - we just wish we could have done them all.
Cheers
Thanks for the feedback and don't forget to post a review of your hotel
Glad to hear you had a fab time and thanks for the excellent review of eateries in Cala Bona.
Better warn the authorities - a lot of smoke coming from Chiris is just HT members and their strawberry flambes.
Thanks BiffHT, Tisonlymo and Tippi - oh enjoy your stay...for a first sun holiday I thought it was fantastic...see my review of the Ola Aparthotel Isabel under Hotels section - another good looking site was The Bonaire for evening entertainment for adults and children (ideally 5 to 10) in the evenings at 8pm - entertainment in most of the hotels is open to the general public where there is a bar available (or so I have been told by the Budget Travel Representative we had). They have a wonderul Thompsons entertainment crew this year with 'L Cool J' a lovely lady and 'Wacky Wendy' among the group - drinks are reasonable and we enjoyed their entertainment very much!
Finished work tonight and I just can't take in that in a few days time I can be sat in Cala Bona harbour eating strawberry flambes!
Thanks for the tip
Karenx
