Take your sons gb to the shops with you and try the games on his console. We did this twice last year and ended up buying 20 games for about £60. Tell your son to skip to different parts of the games as some games might only play for the first few minutes( you will need a kid to do this as adults can't , not clever enough). We had one game crash after three days and it was exchanged at the shop with no problem with a free lollipop thrown in for inconvenience. Nearly one year later all the games are still working fine 
to you both, will do, I'm asuming you get them on market stalls, & not in shops. Definately agree with the bit about needing a kid to check out the games, I can't even turn the thing on (or off). 
Hi i dont know if this has been asked before if it has i cant find it,can you buy ds games in turkey.The last few years we have brought the game boy games but now have to walk round looking for these

Going to Turkey for very first time (Olu Deniz) in May, where's the best place to buy gameboy DS games there? The markets or shops in town? How reliable are they and what sort of price can we expect to pay?
Not sure about the prices as I haven't been to Olu since summer 06, but one of the classic cons is selling demo games that don't save. Make sure your kids are allowed to try them in their own machines and that they will save. You can't tell by the packaging it's all very professional.

), but if you have bought them in Fethyie or Hisoranu where you will probably get better deals, you then have to figure in the costs of the dolmuses/taxis to go back to change them. This is often as much as the game cost in the first place.

Thanks doe, Do you think it's worth buying them then? Seems alot of faffing on to try out games etc when you standing in a shop, are they ok waiting a few mins while the kids play on them? I mean they not watching you like a hawk making you feel uncomfy are they? And do you haggle in a shop or pay the set price for games? I'm not really looking forward to this haggling lark, I'd feel too guilty like I was trying to rip them off or something!
ds games are not (or should i say have not been over the past couple of years) widely available in turkey as they are of a similar price to what the are in the uk, the games that are cheap in turkey are the gameboy advance games, like previous posters have stated always test them in your own machine, the turkish are happy for you to do this.

Just to confirm the above poster's comment. I also mean't GB Advance games as this was 2006. Not Nintendo DS or PSP. I understand Sony have done something that means PSP games can't be counterfeited.
GB advance copy games were so cheap in Turkey in 2006, (might have been £20 for 4) that if you got a duff one it was still £20 for 3, so most folk weren't to fussed. They were probably £20 each in the UK at the time.
Might be different now as Gameboy is no longer the consol of choice in the UK so Gameboy games here are also cheaper especially if you buy used or old releases.

Amongst other things (dozens of other things that is !!) he has asked for a Nintendo DS. They cost about £100 here would it be worth waiting until we get there ? Also would they be compatible with games bought in the UK or not?

we bought our ds lite from duty free currys think it was around £85 so a slight saving, i wouldnt risk buying in turkey
dont think they have ds in turkey yet,hadnt got it last year or games for it.They are a bit behind rest of us for new games consoles as they are expensive .Maybe try a trip to Rhodes on the ferry from Marmaris or Fhetiye,nice day out too and may get what you want there ,but be careful you dont just buy a case with nowt inside. 
i know you can buy the games cheaper there but not the consuls 
We are off to turgutres in a couple of weeks and wondered if ds games are being sold and if so are they good value like gameboy gams are.
Just back from Olu Deniz and we saw they were selling Nintendo Wii games in Hisaronu market. We didn't buy them because there was no way to test whether they actually worked, but interested to learn if anyone does find this out.
They do work but your Wii has to be 'chipped' or altered in some way for them to play.
