lisa & me went on this 3 years ago, would i take my toungest daughter tia ( 5 years old ) hard question really. she's bombed out & really funny but i think the first initial driving over the rough parts would scare a 5 year old to death
Thank's,i've been on one myself in Portugal and thought that was abit rough.I think we'll give it a miss this year and just do beach, waterpark and hotel swimming pool.Cheers
We went on one in Portugal, it was just a bit of a drive around some roads and salt beds... (well after the Troodos trip it seemed much much blander)..
if you want to get a taste of the Troodos Jeep Safari have a look on my site at the video I took a few years back... http://www.askcy.com
He loved it! honestly... i would take him, its an awsome experience especially off road! Our guide was a character too
NOT give it a miss... absolutely superb views...

It can be a bit rough when the guide goes off road but mostly its fine and I would definately Check out the photo gallery for a taster: http://www.protaras-cyprus.co.uk/
How and where do you book this Safari, it sounds really good!
I havent been on one of these trips as I am fortunate enough to be a trained 4x4 driver and decent map reader - So I just hired a decent 4x4 and did my own trip. However - whichever way you do it you wont regret the views!!!
People do say its a good trip but it can work out expensive if you have a large family.
We were in Protaras in June and at that time the prices varied from 28 to 32 Cypriot Pounds per person...
I never understand why people waste money on this sort of tour in Cyprus (£25 each !!!!!). Hire a 4x4 (I've even done the same roads in a hyundai car) and just follow the map, you want "All weather roads". Lots of things to see inc the waterfalls near the top of trodos.
Some of us dont have a license graham .... i must admit i wasnt happy paying nearly £150 sterling for 2 dults 3 children but we had done the waterpark & a boat trip so there was only the jeep safari left for our family. Last year in Marmaris we paid £50 for 6 of us meal included!
The route we took was only for a good 4x4 with a driver who knew where he was going.. at one point we were in low ratio and all four wheels were scrambling for grip to get up the path... no way would a normal car go up, and no way would I suggest trying to follow the same route by driving yourself.
You can get up Troodos following the main sort of "roads" that go up there, but these tour (Jeep Safari) are by people who know every little back track, nook and cranny.... they also know where to go that won't disturb people who live around the areas.
Take a look at the video's on my site and that wasn't the half of it... I drive 4x4's myself and have also done a lot of mechanical work on them, would love to have done some of the off roading (which would have been great fun in itself) but I'm seriously glad we booked the Safari as there was a lot we would have missed, places we wouldn't have gone... and possibly upset the local people by going through places we shouldn't have been....
Yes you can hire a 4x4 (we did) and get up there (we didn't, we used it to explore the rest of the island) but the Jeep Safari was worth every single penny... and with a bit of luck I might be back there this year and I'll be doing it again if at all possible... (booking with the same bloke if I can)
(there endeth my two penneth)... :-)
