We were robbed at this hotel as well. We arrived early evening got key to room, got key to safety deposit box (which was in bedroom wardrobe) dumped everything in safe. Went out for something to eat and when we came back the room was completely turned over and safe door jemmied off.
It seems my review about this hotel did not put the 'insider' off. He/she is still supplying the details to the crooks to rob at end or begining of holiday when all the valuables are together.
First Choice take note this time!!!!!
if this is happening on a regular basis then surely it is about time safety deposit boxes were put in a locked room next to hotel reception where they can be watched and put under cctv coverage.that way everyone would be safer and happier
i have stayed in hotels where boxes have been in a locked office in reception mostly in turkey maybe you should enquire about putting stuff in hotel safe????

We are back two weeks from the Lagotel and we had a wonderful holiday. The kids really loved it and want to go back again next year.
We went SC but we were able to upgrade to HB for a very good rate.

Have recently booked to go to Lagotel in Playa De Muro for 2 weeks in August, in the brochure it states that men must wear long trousers for the evening meal, is this true, as my husband is not keen 
Hello daisey, most Spanish hotels make you wear long trousers if you are on half board, i think I know why if you ever go in at breakfast time and see some of the shorts that some men wear, so short you can see the crack of there bums and this is why. You can sometimes get away with 3/4 lenth ones in some hotels, you just have to do what I do have your dinner then go and put your shorts back on.

The Spanish are a bit more formal, and do like the guests to make something of an occasion of the evening meal......to relax and enjoy it, rather than gobble something down and rush off........
Most dining rooms are air-conditioned these days. He will only need a pair of chinos, not like work trousers, and as Dave said, change out of them after the meal
Most of the ladies like to put something nicer than t shirt and shorts on too, it all makes a change from the routine at home.....
If you treat the Spanish with respect, they will respect you......

we are staying at Lagotel Hotel in August, is there a water park near by and what other excursions available and worth while. We have two girls to keep entertained, age 10, and 14. 
Many thanks for your replies,will pack a few pairs of chinos, i know what you're saying, it is nice to make a bit of effort and dress up in the evening..

daisey we went here in august 2005 and yes, you will need to pop in some long trousers for ya hubby to go in the restaurant. We were even told to go and change out of three quarter lengths 
Funny thing is that during breakfast you can wear shorts etc- long trousers just for evening.

It is the largest one on the island and by far the best. We had a great day there.
there are lockers provided too, which are handy if you all want to go on the slides and not leave any valuables lying around.
We had a super time at the Lagotel- great place and beach is very nearby.
One great eating place is called "cheers" which is down the road from the hotel- lovely food here

We're staying in the Lagotel in July - has anyone tried out the scuba diving facilities ? I quite fancy giving it a go...
We are staying in august would love know what is around and what the pool area is like in August, have read the reviews they sound ok
have booked a late deal to the lagotel and just read some disturbing reports of rooms being burgled and large sums of money and valuables being taken and the management not wanting to know! has anyone been there and can tell me if there are secure!! safety deposit boxes to hire?
