Hi Joolz,
Gosh you sound as if you really know your stuff! I was wondering if i could now ask a few quick questions!! Hope this is ok!
I am concerned about the views to the rear of the hotel? They dont look over building work or anything like that do they?
I have read a few reviews and a lot of peops reckon it's not a five star hotel, what's your opinion?
Also any good for teenagers?
Thanks again!
N x
Sure Joolz will reply if possible, just to let you know though that TC are marketing the Garden of Sun as 3 star not 5.Also charged us £40 PP for a room with a view, as the standard rooms don't look out onto anything great, however depending on when you go in the season and availability, it would be a lot cheaper to upgrade room when you arrive.

Sorry for the delay - have just got back from my new villa in Altinkum Its beautiful!
During the tourist season builders are not allowed to build its against the law. The view is of rooftops with water tanks and solar panels and there was something in the process of being built further up the road - but it was only at foundation level and not very big.
There is building work going on everywhere in Tinky - but dont let it put you off as I said before they are not allowed to be digging and building in summer.
Its Turkish 5star not british - its rated as a three star in the Thomas Cook book. We were pleased with it - as its a new hotel its not falling apart at the seams - for instance the lobby area has red and black leather furniture - very modern!
On this note I was talking to a lady who had booked a three star in town and said she hated it as it was old and you couldnt flush loo paper down the loo and she also said the room was small and all three single beds were pushed togther to get them in! Its not like that at the G.O.S.
Teenagers - you poor thing - ha ha - there are pool tables a basketball court a multi purpose court - where they played footy in the early evening and darts. The entertainment team play lots of different team games. I think they may well get bored in the evening - unless like most people you go into town - like we did. It breaks the cycle of being tied to the hotel.
Hope this helps you a bit - feel free to ask anything else if you think of anything else!
Joolz
Is there a long trouser rule for the guys in the evening? I know that some AI's insist on this. once again thanks!
Alistair
Not when we were there smart shorts were fine - but you were not allowed in with just your swimwear on you had to put a t'shirt over - a few women tried to go in in bikinis and sarongs and were made to change into something more suitable - which I think is right.
Thanks Joolz,
My Hubby looked at about 40 and we felt this was the best - so I HAD to go back and make sure all our furniture etc had arrived..what a shame I had to have an extra week of holiday.....

Well it's a tough job but someone has to do it!
As my wife and I have booked this hotel for next June I've been keeping an eye on the reviews of the hotel on the net, Seems that there has been a outbreak of " Tummy problems"? which has been serious enough to hospitalise a number of guests, as well as inconveniencing many others!Lots of negative stuff about the hotel which I would not always believe however there are just too many reports of problems in the hotel floating around. Guess next June is a long way away so hopefully it will all be resolved by then, anyone else heard anything? Local Thomas Cook branch haven't heard anything about any difficulties!

Well I finally got round to posting a review of our holiday - sorry if it's a bit long winded but I had a lot to say !
Hi all, we,re going to the garden of sun 5*hotel all-inc, in altinkum in may, just your thought and tips, like how long on coach from airport actually and not what the brochure says,good/bad hotel, drinks watered down or not, food good/bad,etc etc,any help most appreciated.kind regards sully...
purplerainbows1961,
Many thanks for the (long) review John. I have just approved it and it's much appreciated.
Hope the review answers most of your questions !
We were looking at going back in May but Palm Wings seems to be cheaper so might try that instead.
Just something to be aware of - there is currently a demolition order against parts of the hotel but hopefully they might see sense and sort things out before they bulldoze parts of one of the newest hotels in the resort. Like other Turkish resorts, they are having a crackdown on buildings not constructed to plan.

Hi all,i,ve been trawling through this forum, please bear in mind i,m not exactly a boffin when it comes to comps, but am i reading this right the hotel is being demolished/part or in whole.as i just found a local paper dated dec2009,stating the dozers have moved in,any truth in this?as we are due to go in may 2010,can,t get hold of anybody at thompsons, will wait until tomorrow, but if anybody knows anything, would be most grateful,or am i just a bit panicky...yours worried sully...
purplerainbows1961,
The Voices newspaper in Altinkum is the source of information I was going on (and that other topic).
There are certainly pictures of a JCB pulling down one of the boundry walls at the side of the hotel by the football pitch. The whole demolition thing has been on and off several times in the last couple of months. It is stopped at the moment as the contractors do not comply with insurance or something like that.
If the demolition DOES go ahead, then there will not be a pool or amphitheatre for the entertainment. I cannot see Thomsons sending you there in that case.
It is also reported that the 'jetty' at the Didim Beach Resort (opposite the GoS) is to be demolished along with other jettys at hotels and bars in the resort.
I would gie Thomsons a ring and see what they hae to say.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
John
