That's all fine you'll have no problems.

Some countries are funny about the importation of fresh fruit and vegetables, but all the items you've listed will be fine - just remember to wrap the glass jars up well.

I think you will find that it is all available in Cyprus!!!!!

You may have to look a bit harder for the pb and marmite though!!!!

Hi Daisybumpkins

As debbg says all those, apart from maybe the peanut butter and marmite,

as readily available in Cyprus so why take up space carrying them with you? :D

Their fresh milk is just the same as ours too

Thanks for replies, we arrive at an unearthly hour in Cyprus and just fancied having immediate food and drink to hand for when we get to our apartment. The supermarkets wont be open, nor will we want to be shopping! We have done this before and its always been a godsend to be honest. It also provides us with breakfast in the morning too. :D

I must admit to having taken a pack of bacon (frozen in a cool bag ) and tins of baked beans ( expensive in Cyprus) in the past, plus teabags, biscuits and little cartons of milk. I drew the line at eggs though!

I'm a bit funny about going on holiday... I kind of like the adventure of it.. you know turning up at 4am and seeing if you can reception to knock a sandwich up (best to start big, then get fobbed off with cups of tea..) Same thing again with the food... if its not there I'm not bothered.. it makes it all the more fun to try new things and local produce.... if by the end of 2 weeks I'm craving a meat and potato pie (or some such) then it makes going home that bit better as your not thinking about being home again, more about getting that pie (or whatever the craving.. once is was bacon...another time it was garlic??????? )...

think I'm saying..personally I'd not bother carting marmite to another country.. (and I do like it..)..

It may help some to know that the bakeries are open 24 hours a day. Lovely to drop off at 6am from the airport and get some fresh bread etc.

Daisybumpkins sorry but why are you bringing that food out with you? all of that food is available here...why risk contaminating your clothes?

Bellavista, tins of Baked Beans :omg !! Yes, I know they are expensive, tried their own make.... disgusting!!!!

I'm Scottish and even I wouldn't carry tins with me....... plus I always have a problem with weight allowance, so I would have no chance

Marion,

Wouldn't happen to know if there are any bakeries open in the centre of Protaras. First time there, and we also get in early morning times.

Hi Jinty

Sorry, don't know about Protaras but someone else might..

We go to one in Paralimni. Look at this map and it's in grid ref. K6 along Alexandrou Street.

Might be easier to find the one on April 1st Avenue at D9/E9 on the right hand side on the corner of Oktovrou (?) as you drive up. April 1st continues from the road from the motorway at G15.

The bakeries sell milk, butter, cheese, bacon etc as well as bread and cakes.

Hi Jinty,
yes I admit it is pretty sad, but I didn't realise at the time that you could get them in Cyprus ! Incidentally we have got 23kg weight allowance each with BA this year.

Like everyone else, I'd question why are you taking these things.

There is no bakery in Protaras, but you can get fresh bread from the shops.

There is a fast food joint, actually quite good, open until around 6am.

Going from memory there are restrictions on meats, dairy products.

Remember Cyprus is an island.

For a definitive answer, check with their embassy in London.

Daisy has explained the reason for the question:

Unearthly arrival time and wanting a nosh-up before the shops open in the morning.

In my view, a little self restraint is called for.

We arrive at Larnaca at midnight, which means we won't be on the road to Pissouri until about 1am. We will arrive in Pissouri at about 2:30am. As and when we awake it'll be in the car, down to the bay for breakfast then a tootle to Orphanannies  in Paphos for essential supplies; Leon, Village Wine, Zivania etc. Possibly make room in the trolley for bread, tea, coffee, milk. Definitely room in the trolley for kataifi, baklava etc!

Hi Mark :D

You horror you've got my mouth watering  I could eat baclava right now.

Got some in M&S and it was not bad at all  A brandy sour would go

down a treat in this heat........I've got the ingredients to make them but

somehow it doesn't taste the same

Like you my first stop will be Orphies to stock up :D
