No worries Martin - we were very tempted to book with you ourselves last year but we're a party of 5 even tho' twins will top'n'tail - thought the roof terrace was to die for, and the spiral staircase from balcony to roof terrace.

I am VERY jealous! :D

We have a permanent reminder of a great holiday in Cala Millor. Our youngest was conceived there! He is now 16!

hi, new to the forum but have been reading it avidly last few weeks. Off to Cristina Apts in Cala Millor from Edinburgh next saturday at 9am and can't wait. Second time there and have been to Bonaire in Cala Bona twice and can only agree with the positive comments about Cala Millor and Cala Bona.
Same goes for Cheers Bar - absolutely fantastic. Beef Stroganoff is sensational and the kids pick and mix menu is a brilliant idea especially for fussy eaters- my little one had 3 eggs and spaghetti first time she went there!
Can't wait to see the new harbour area in Cala Bona as well as it's 2002 since we were last there. Did Alcudia (Playa de Muro_ in 2004 - nice but not a patch on Cala Millor/Bona.
To all of you heading off in the next week or 2, have a good one!

Hi Fergs01

We'll be there for your last week so might see you in Cheers Bar!

Have a great time!

If you see a plate of 3 eggs and spaghetti heading to a table, you'll know it's us! Either that or a middle-aged Celtic fan sitting with his 15 year old Rangers-supporter son!
May try Weatherspoons too. I seem to recall it as a couple of different names from previous visits - Stumps or Durham Ox I think. Liked London Inn as well plus a couple of places round Cala Bona Harbour - Smugglers, Smithys.
See there's a few posts about exchange rates - we have bought some euros from M&S up here and got 1.417 today but, in past years, we always got a better rate in resort, especially with some of the jewellers on the promenade so we're taking mostly Sterling TC's.

We'll be the harassed couple with an 8 year old and 4 year old boy/girl twins who look nothing like each other at all probably tucking into a parmo or one of Kev's Sunday roasts :D

12 more sleeps for us! :D :D :D :D

We got back from Cala Bona last week and the rate on the street is 1.41 so M&S did a good rate for you.
We have an account with the Nationwide and use our cash card over there - Nationwide don't charge for the privilege and you get a good rate of exchange.
The harbour area at Cala Bona is looking very nice now it has been completed - the festival of the Angel was on last week finishing with a firework spectacular and the place was packed. We sat at Janet & Johns watching it.
Weatherspoons did used to be known as Stumps and Alan & Di changed it when they took over - remember us to them when you go (Martin & Teri). Tis - remember us to Stefan at Cheers and have a sangria or 2 for us, we are missing it already and can't get back now until October (apartment is fully booked up apart from 1week in Sept).
Envious or greedy? Maybe both lol

Martin - I will do (remember you to Stefan at Cheers)! I can't wait to get out there - 11 more sleeps!

I noticed the new info for Chiris and Waterfront Bar on A-Z Mallorca have got pics of the improved harbour area and it looks fantastic!. The old boat house is totally transformed and the new railings are a VAST improvement!

Great that your apartment is doing well on the bookings front - do you go out much over the winter months? Going to speak to lots of Brits over there this year - trying to talk DH into us moving over there as I think the kids would have a far better life than over here.

Anyway, I waffle going to get out in the garden and boost my tan - think I'm already the colour I normally come back so I'm happy :D

Hi tis
We tend to get over about 4 times a year and were over in February this year (it was booked for 6weeks over xmas). It is nice at that time of year but not much is open. Have been in December and all the brit bars do the decoration bit but the Mallorqians tend to celebrate the coming of the Kings on 5th Jan. Cheers opens on a restricted basis. We ate at the Caledonian a couple of times. All in all it was very relaxing. Weather was comfortable during the day but cold at night so if booking make sure of heating - we had our climate control so we were ok!!!
I would move over tomorrow but wife (Teri) is too attached to our bungalow in Wales - there is always the future eh? But we don't regret buying over there particularly now the new motorway cuts down the transfer time from the airport. It is virtually open now from Palma to Manacor - no dodgy coach journey throught the village of Villafranca any more.
For general information if anyone fancies a good breakfast in Cala Bona - try Sonny's Sunrise Special. You probably won't need anything else until teatime!!! we ate there evryday before hitting Cala Bona beach on our lilos and floating the days away

Hi Martin

Does the new motorway cut things down dramatically? Must say the transfer time is the one and only drawback to Cala Bona/Cala Millor but worth it all the same.

Who do you use for your transfers or do you have your own car? We're using Clarkline (Lionel) this year.

Tis - we found that the motorway makes the journey easier and it takes definitely less than an hour now. When all sections are completed I would guess at 45 -50 mins.
We hired a car last time through Carjet but the fuel arrangement doesn't work in your favour unless you plan to use a full tank while there, because you have to return the car empty after paying for a full tank - no refund given for fuel left!
The couple who look after the cleaning of the apartment and holding the keys, do airport transfer as well, so most of our bookings use them. He charges 50euros each way which seems to be par for the course by unnofficial runners!
Keep counting down lol.
