Beachbabe2004. San miguel Beach club & Hotel is a good place,my family will be going back there again this October. Plenty for the kids to do, good entertainment, food not bad, plenty of drinks & the beach is 100 mtrs away. The hotel is better then the beach club, but all in all its a good place. There are loads of reviews about this resort, hope this helps you... :D

is the beach here really sand and shingle? Or mainly sand - it all looks so lovely, but did not want to be walking in shingle?

Agree with Pooh and Katie. San Miguel is great

It's sand so you don't have to worry about walking on shingle. We first went when my daughter was 13, and have been going back since, and she stil wants to go at 16, so it must be a great place, like everyone has replied :D

Another vote here for Puerto San Miguel. We are going back for our sixth visit next summer and my 14 year old daughter loves the place. My eldest daughter has been with us three times, including last year when she was 17 and both took friends with them - everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of things going on to join in with if you want to, but the animation team soon get to know who wants to just chill out and relax on their sunbed (like me!!!) and leave you to it.

I thought food was better this year than previous years and views from hotel terraces are stunning.

Is there a town with shops etc to walk around at night though???? We like a walk after dinner with enough shops etc to keep us occupied for 1hr or so.

There are 2 supermarkets and 2 souvenier shops, and that is it. The resort is tiny. The shops close around 9pm.

If you have your evening meal in the hotel restaurant you can exit the hotel on the 8th floor (essentially the ground floor as the hotel is built into the side of the cliff) and take a nice stroll down the hill to the resort centre (surrounded by lovely smelling pine trees) where the couple of shops are. Follow this with a stroll along the beach, (the nice SANDY one) then let the kids play on the slides in the play area whilst you sit and watch them with a nice long cocktail. Then it will be time for the kids mini disco and the much talked about evening entertainment.
Not a bad way to end the day and start the evening!
