Just got back and i can tell you that the church square is still being repaired along with the street that runs down all the way to the harbour(this is to do with major sewer works involving relaying new pipes.

All the restaurants down this street have no tables and chairs for outdoor seating.

Just got back and I can report exactly the same as clarets4ever. The church square does look grim at the moment along with the restaurant street, although in my experience quite frankly the restaurants down that street have always been far from good quality, so no loss there!

My partner and i visited in July 2006 and it wasn't great, apparently they had to lay pipes 3 times as they kept getting it wrong. Happy to say that we went back for New Year and it had been finished and was looking lovely, temp gauge just before you get to the square all the restuaurant are back out in force was looking really good.

Church Square looking very good but most of the side streets are now being dug up also the sea front along by Chicagos we heard work is to continue for the next two years
