I am travelling to Mombasa in November06 (Shadow of Kilimanjaro 3 night safari and then staying at Voyager Beach) and would like to do an excursion to Zanzibar. Has anyone gone from Mombasa to Zanzibar (not by air as it's too costly) and how did they get there? I would like to go stay overnight, do a tour of Zanzibar (not a spice tour) perhaps a bit of snorkelling and then return to Mombasa. Is this the sort of thing which could be booked with the 'beach boys?' and if so any idea of the cost involved?
Also can anyone recommend a good reasonable dive centre in Mombasa? I would like to see some of the dive sites while there, including white tip sharks and possibly whale sharks which I believe are involved in their migration during my stay.
Also would anybody recommend a trip to Nairobi or not bother? Some of the other trips I am interested in are Wasini Island & Kisite Marine Park, Mombasa full day tour (travelling solo thought it best not to wander about on my own), Ngomongo cultural experience perhaps. Does anyone have any input on experiences with any of these excursions? Is it truly best to book with the beach boys and what sort of cost did you pay? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
