Last Fri I was i nformed that the flight my daughter was booked on (10.10 Palma to bristol)had been cancelled so we rebooked her on the later one at 2200 hrs.Now my husband and the rest of the family are flying out to Majorca tomorrow qt 615am and low and behold, I get another email from Easyjet to inform me that OUR return flight has also been cancelled(a week later) so we had to rebook onto the later flight.
It was a good job I noticed the emali or by tonight i would have left for the very early flight in the morning and not realised it had been cancelled.
I think it is very poor that theis company only inform of a cancellation AFTER the Customer services closes for the weekend - Very convenient!!It's no wonder that ITV sought fit to make a fly on the wall documentary about them!!Wish us luck for the journey tomorrow! We have to get up at 3am!
These cancellations have been going on for some time but they have been trying to keep it quiet!!
I have flown with them loads of times though and have to say I have no complaints with them...
Similar thing happened with my hubby's flight to Geneva in June. He was supposed to leave on a Tuesday and they cancelled it, re-booked him on the Sunday one and sent him an email. Good job he was able to check his mails wasn't it?!!
At the desk was a lone woman who was supposed to be on that return flight. Obviously she didn't know until she had got to Faro airport for her return journey.
easy jet is a budget airline to me and deep down I can't help but expect things like this from a budget airline.Easy jet is a massive company though and by no means a poor airline but it will never move into a quality airline status until it can stop cancelling flights
they have now cancelled several flights from Newcastle for this month due to staff shortages - if you're due to fly with them, it's worth checking it's still ok.
I have flew with Easyjet loads of times now, and luckily my only small hitch was a 30/45 minute delay, but I have noticed a difference this year with them (release info, pricing etc). Hope they are not on the slide.

The lady at the desk in Faro didn't find out until she got to the airport.
We had our flights cancelled to Nice on the 23rd of July,we were due to fly out August 5th,I an still waiting for my refund!!!£375 which was supposed to be refunded onto my card within 5 days hasnt materialised yet...will ring again tommorow and probably be put on hold again for 45 mins, its awful trying to get throught o a human!
Right thats my rant over with........for today
Mandy
Mandy, how did you originally find out ???? I have heard before that the customer service side of things is a bit "ropey", hope you get sorted. Did you mangage to get alternative flights ??? This is a major problem with DIY, and it has to happen sometimes I suppose - I will have to check up on insurances etc.
contact your credit card company today and explain to them what has happened. The cancellation constitutes sufficient grounds to warrant the CREDIT CARD company themselves refunding you IMMED.
The consumer credit act (Section 75) provides for this eventuality providing you spent more than £100 on a single transaction (multiple ticket purchases where single ticket is below £100 but total is above is eligible). You shouldn't need to wait more than 24-48 hours in my opinion for a refund on the card.
Mike
I originally had an e-mail from easy jet to cancel the flight.
Thank you for the advice,I have now eventually got the refund from Easyjet after having to speak to another person who couldnt have been more helpful, gave me his personal contact e-mail address and said he would help me to sort it.
After 24 hrs it was in my account,he explained that because I had said my card was a Visa, and it kept being rejected,he had sussed that my card was a Visa debit and it went through fine,so was it my mistake or theirs?the annoying thing is,they didnt once contact me to say it had been rejected, you are supposed to keep ringing them
so in future if you want a refund from easy jet, make sure you specify 'Visa' or 'Visa Debit'
Phew....
Mandy
OK, you are often charged a little extra by the airline (although they probably still charge a small fee for debit card as well) but I consider it well worth paying that extra bit.
If the company you book with goes bust and you've paid by debit card you are likely to get nothing back. At least with a credit card payment you will be refunded the WHOLE amount (subject to having initially spent more than £100 and less than £30,000).
But well done Easyjet for eventually sorting this for you.
Mike
Appreciate what you are saying regarding Credit and Debit cards but there are those of us who only have Debit cards. Personally I don't use Credit cards.
Rgds
As far as the "fly on the wall" programme goes, every one of the complaints are for problems caused by the customer, if a flight is cancelled because of an airport problem then it's hardly down to easyjet.
I'm not saying their perfect, but easyjet is the only one who'll stand up and be counted on tv warts and all!
As SmiffyZ posted, they don't seem to make that many errors. The criticism they receive seems to arise from people who expect premium service at budget prices.
IMHO the best budget airline by a country mile!!!!
I haven't had any problems with easyjet but I must admit they are last on my list but only due to the fact that of the 'race for seat' method that they use.
I also want to stand up and be counted....
Touch wood ive never had a problem with easy jet..
Cheap and cheerfull x
